Product Description

Corsair Vengeance 1400 delivers high performance gaming audio that's a perfect match for your high-end sound card. Large 50mm drivers offer better bass response and crisp, clear midrange sound and the noise cancelling microphone lets you be heard loud and clear. The closed-back, circumaural ear cups reduce environmental noise for a more immersive gaming experience. Plus the large ear cups feature microfiber-covered memory foam ear pads for hours of comfortable gameplay. And the Corsair Vengeance 1400 uses standard 3.5mm connectors, for compatibility with virtually all PCs and Macs.

From the Manufacturer

Superior gaming audio reproduction that’s a match for your high-end sound card

Gaming sound designers work hard to make audio sound great, and your high-end sound card and Vengeance 1400 are a great combination for making that happen.

Amazing sound

The massive 50mm drivers greatly reduce the overloading and distortion that can occur with gaming headsets that use smaller drivers that aren’t up to the task. You’ll get more accurate sound reproduction, particularly for the all-important low-frequency effects. The more detailed, cleaner sound doesn’t just enhance your enjoyment… hearing the audio the way the game designer meant it to be heard can give you a competitive advantage, too.

Superior comfort

The extra-wide, extra deep earcups don’t just help things sound great — they feel better, too. The memory foam earpads with synthetic leather covers provide a comfortable and reliable fit that conforms to the shape of your head without binding or pinching.

Intense, immersive gaming

The circumaural, closed-back design blocks distracting sounds and keeps your head in the game, and the extra-large inline volume and microphone control is easy to grab and use when the action heats up — you don't need to take your eyes off the screen.

Whether you’re barking instructions to your teammates or chatting with old friends, you deserve to be heard. The unidirectional, noise-cancelling microphone is tuned to capture your voice loudly and clearly, while screening out distracting background noises. And, it flips out of sight when you’re not using it.

I forgot how good a pair of headphones could sound when they were able to produce a nice bass end output.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I’ll say upfront that I’m not a huge gamer. I got these for my sister because she needed a pair of headphones for music production with a passable microphone built in. Since I’m not really the target consumer for this sort of thing, I just wanted to explain this before getting into the review. I do have a great deal of experience with a wide range of headphones from mid-grade options like the Corsair to very expensive Sennheisers and everything in between. Thus, this review will mostly pertain to sound quality.

First, the design is nice. It’s a closed back design, which eliminates a lot of ambient sound. The ear pieces are huge and will fully enclose your ears, provided you’re not a giant. The microfiber memory foam ear pads are very, very comfortable. A lot of headphones sound great, but they’re uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, but the Corsairs will not fatigue you. I have two pairs of AKG headphones and while they sound amazing, they are not at all comfortable for long listening sessions. Not so with the Corsairs.

The sound is surprisingly good. I didn’t have high expectations for these, but I was very pleasantly surprised. With cheaper headphones that aren’t necessarily aimed at a discerning audiophile type listener, you tend to find artificially bright treble and overly heavy bass. The Corsairs were more neutral that I would have expected. They actually had a nice midrange and a good overall sound. Perhaps they are a bit heavier in the bass than something totally neutral, but I think some slight bass emphasis is what a lot of people want these days, so maybe it’s not a bad thing for everyone.

This headset is really comfy for persons who wear glasses. I can wear this for hours without any discomfort.

The audi is what you would expect from a gaming headset: bass forward, somewhat muddy, boomy sound. Great for explosions, airplane engines, etc.

The cord is long and is not the standard rubber that gets twisted. This cord is braided and does not twist up. It's also nice & long, too.

If you don't care about sound quality, this headset is an easy 5 stars. I knocked it down by one star for the poor musical reproduction.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Overall, these are excellent headphones whether being used for gaming, listening to music, or conversation. The construction quality feels solid rather than cheap. The ear cups are large, accommodating, and after wearing them for hours I felt little to no ear fatigue unlike some 'leather' covered models. The microphone works well and the volume controller is a nice addition. The sound quality is good, nothing amazing, but definitely good for the price point. This is definitely a headset I'd recommend.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
By way of disclosure, I received a sample of this product for review purposes. I have tried to be objective in my evaluation of this headset.

I have used various gaming headsets over the years, including models from Plantronics, SteelSeries, and Creative. The Corsair Vengance 1400 holds its own and is well designed and built for a value gaming headset.

This model includes standard 1/8" plugs for the microphone and headphone. It is not a USB headset, so your performance will depend on your soundcard.

Overall, the earcups are comfortable. They surround your ears and do not apply too much pressure. The fiber earpad covers do not get too hot during extended play.

The microphone is noise cancelling and works well. I had no complaints from others I was in game with in Team Fortress 2. Levels and clarity are good.

The sound overall is decent. These are not audiophile headphones by any stretch, but they produce a listenable experience for a casual music fan. Gaming sound is fine, with sufficient detail and energy to be immersive.

Overall, I would recommend the Vengance 1400 as a solid entry level or budget headset.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
These work well with games where you need the 3D sound experience, as they do that very well and sound quality for voice (for conversations on Skype and such) is very good. They are OK for music, but if you have a good soundcard for music, and listen other than very casually you will probably want a second set for that.

One thing that I'd mention is that I have a large head and they're really comfortable for me, which many headsets of this type are not. It's hard to make a headset that works well for all head sizes, especially when it's got a microphone attached.

Also, I like the velour/whatever material used on the ear pads: vinyl makes my ears sweat after a while.

For $100, I rate these 5 stars. At $150, probably not.

Here's the thing: I have earbuds (expensive ones that are amazing) which are about the same as these headphones. So why so big? Are you trying to keep your ears warm? Because these do! But that being said, the audio quality (speaker and mic) is excellent.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This gaming headset is built pretty sturdy and it is comfortable to boot. I have a big head and with the ear cups fully extended, the headset felt just right. It seems like it can take plenty of wear and handling without falling apart. The mic can be positioned right in front of the side of your mouth. Voice quality is acceptable although this brings me to the headsets main failing: overall sound quality. I think it just sound muddy with emphasized bass and not enough clarity in midrange and highs. Voices do not come across as well as they should because of this. You can even get a sense of the sound by playing music through them.

PROS:
-solid build quality
-adjustable mic position
-super long, cloth-covered cord

CONS:
-only way to connect is separate mic and stereo mini-plugs. Wish it had an adapter for 3.5mm and 2.5mm combined mic/stereo plugs.
-sound quality not the best
