When you look at the C70, you can't help but notice the unmistakable military-style visual cues. Complete with side panel clamps, red power button, covered reset switch, and military green paint (also available in black, and white), the C70 has a distinct style that should appeal to a lot of gamers. While the styling is bold, I still think the C70's appearance is fairly clean; Corsair didn't go overboard with it, which is just fine by me.
The C70 also has two handles, located on the top panel -- one in the front and one in the back -- for easy carrying. The handles have a spring that makes them drop flat when not in use. The left side panel also has a tinted window for showing off all the gear you've worked hard to put together.
The C70 weighs just over 18 pounds and is of average size, for a mid-tower ATX case.Read more ›
Using a military ammunition canister for inspiration, they created a gorgeous case complete with safety cover on the reset and slap down mechanical latches for the side panels.
What's that you say?
No more unscrewing side panel screws to get into my case? ...Corsair, you had me at "Ammunition Case."
To give you an idea of the level of thought they put into this case:
- The fan mounting holes come with rubber tube inserts that help with vibration of the fans while mounted.
-3 Slotted rubber access panels clean-looking wire management (1 by the power supply and 1 at the middle and 1 at the top). There is 1 port in the back panel to run your 6/8 pin power to the CPU also.
- Back panel access for installing heavy duty CPU heat sinks or water cooling CPU blocks
- Custom clips to hold wires to the case in the back of the base (so you won't hear that annoying rattle of wires bouncing against your case).
- A 12.25" x 11.5" viewable area side window (31cm x 29cm) with a nice black frame. The window holds 2 fans either 2x120mm or 2x140mm.
- The C70 offers newer motherboards the luxury of using an internal USB 3.0 connector for front USB port access. There is also an adapter for the cable to attach to older motherboards for USB 2.0 access.
-Extremely strong handles that furnish the ammo box look; perfect for LAN parties.
Dust filters are located in 3 areas: 2 at the bottom of the case and 1 in the front. One is right under the power supply and it's easy to get to from the bottom of the case without ever needing to open it.Read more ›
The case itself is quite nice. I went with the green color, and was pleasantly surprised to see how subdued it was. At a distance you might not even notice the green, but you'd probably do a double take upon seeing it. However, just about everything you'd install into the front panel will color clash with the green, so keep this in mind. The two feet have rubber under them (pictures do not show this), and despite the massive quantity of vents it is neither loud nor rattles. I have replaced the fans with Noctua ones and use only SSDs and 5400 RPM drives though so your mileage may vary.
Build quality is good. The steel panels are a bit more flimsy than I'd have liked, but I came from a Fractal Design case (think heavy, thick steel) so I might be biased. The latches are very nice, and make it a joy to open and close this case. Ample space and cable routing, though the directions are a bit sparse. If this is your very first computer build you might want to watch a video, but this is the easiest case I've ever built in.Read more ›
