Format: Flexibound
This is a excellent starting point to quickly survey all of Corsica through beautifully illustrated glossy pages covering history, landscape, architecture, music, culture and much more, followed by area-by-area descriptions of the island. A "Travellers' Needs" section is truly a guide within a guide with information on Where to Stay, Where to Eat, Shopping, Entertainment, Outdoor Activities and a Survival Guide that includes practical information on Banking, Communications and Travel.

At the end of the book you'll find a couple pages of essential French words and phrases. The colorful maps and charts, with all the major sights highlighted, are very helpful.

This was my first Corsica travel guide and I still consult it when I need to find information quickly. It's a little heavy perhaps to carry on your daypack because of its glossy pages. That is why I recommend purchasing this guide plus one regular paper guide such as the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet's. (For more information, please check my reviews on those guides).

It was very helpful. I traveled to Corsica with my friend and it was our only guide that we decided to use. We loved it with its small course in history, food quide, shoping etc.

Books on Corsica are hard to come by so this one is better than nothing. If you are purely interested in geography and history this book will be good for you. Do not look for too much detail as far as restaurants, entertainment options,or detailed travel stuff like you might find in fodors.
