Corte dei Miracoli (1976) had apart from the normal bandsetting also two keyboardists. This made up for a very rich sound. There are five tracks here, the last one being the longest (13:40). On the edge it is really your normal very highclass progressive italian rock. Some additional percussion here and there pushed the sound even further. Otherwise this is all you want from an album from Italy in the 70's: complex melodies, harder themes and more symphonic themes are ever present. The weakest spot here is the singer, I really dont like his voice, or it might also be a bad production. Otherwise I recommend this album strongly. The analog keyboardsound here and there is very enjoyable, blended with some more pianoressembling sounds and the ordinary 'syntheseizersound'. I dont give it a five star becuase of the singer and also that I feel that overall that 'extra spice' is missing a little. But the melodies are very, very stronge and they have a very tight sound. Pleasant album after all. Dont wait too long with checking this out.

Corte dei Miracoli is a wonderful, but latecomer of the Italian scene. The band had two keyboardists, a drummer, and bassist, no guitarist (only Vittorio de Scalzi of New Trolls played guitar on one cut, as a guest). Corte dei Miracoli's self-entitled release was originally released in 1976 on Grog, a small label that was owned by Vittorio de Scalzi. It was their only album released during their existance (a live album and an album of previously unreleased early material had surfaced in the 1990s). The album consists of only five cuts, "...E Verrà L'Uomo", "Verso Il Sole", "Una Storia Fiabesca", "Il Rituale Notturno", and "I Due Amanti". If you're a lover of such bands as Banco, Locanda Delle Fate, or even ELP and Le Orme, you are sure to enjoy this. Le Orme fans will dig this album because it has its share of atmospheric string synths. ELP fans will love the keyboards that at times bring to mind Keith Emerson. Locanda Delle Fate and Banco fans will enjoy this because of the duo keyboard format (one plays piano, the other plays synth and Hammond organ). But be aware: the vocalist sounds nothing like Banco's Francesco or Locanda Delle Fate's Leonardo Sosso. Corte dei Miracoli's vocalist, Graziano Zippo has a more typical Italian prog voice, maybe a bit high pitched, which some people might need to get used to. The album isn't perfect. "Una Storia Fiabesca" seems a bit too repetitive, but the high quality of the rest of the album (like "Il Rituale Notturno") makes up for the shortcomings of that particular cut. If you are at all as familiar with the Italian prog scene as I am, and you're a fan of the groups I mentioned up above, you be sure this album is in your collection.
