5.0 out of 5 stars Great telephone
This phone offers many features, including a backlit display which is easy to read. The sound quality is great and a volume control for the handset works well. The phone has a headset jack which is a neat feature, as is the speakerphone. Another convenience the phone offers is a flashing light indicating that voicemail has been received.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last. :(
I purchased this phone for my home office. I bought it in August and by October was having issues with it cutting out and having a static filled connection. I am constantly on the phone for work and can't afford a bad connection. I initially thought it was because I have a digital phone line and addressed my concerns with the cable company. After confirmation from them...

It depends upon which features you're looking for, but this one has exactly what I wanted. . .

#1 - Headset - This phone has a headset button, with the jack on the right side. When you want to make a call, you simply press the headset button. With my old phone, I would have to pick-up the receiver. This phone also has a "release" button. This can work in two ways. Either it will hang-up the phone when you're using your headset. . . or. . . it will hang-up and give you a dial-tone to make a new call. Please Note: It's automatically set-up to hang-up and give you a dial-tone. I changed that in the menu options, because I simply want it to hang-up.

#2 - Message Waiting light. I have voicemail though my phone service (AT&T) and I like the fact that a light will flash to let me know that I have a message waiting.

#3 - Speed-dial.

#4 - Though I actually liked the way my "old" phone did this a little better, but this is still not bad. When someone calls, and it shows-up on your caller ID, it will usually come through as a 10-digit number. There is a "7-10-11" button. Depending upon where you live, and what number you're calling, you may call the person back using 7-digits. . 10-digits or 1 plus 10-digits. You press the "7-10-11" button and it will change the number. You can either call the number, or store it in your directory.

#5 - Screen tilts

#6 - Helpful tech support

I also like the other "regular" things like speaker phone, redial, large directory, etc.

Here is the reason I am giving this phone 4-stars. With all the things that I like about it. . . there are a couple that I don't. . .

#1 - Backlit Display - It is backlit. . . but. . . only for a few seconds. You have to press something for it to light-up. I wish there were a way to keep it lit all the time, but there's not. This is something that I really don't like, because though you can see the screen when it's not lit, it's not very easy. Tech support says that it's to save energy. . . but.. . how much energy does it take?

#2 - The instruction manual is very "basic". This phone is more-or-less intuitive, but for example, I had to call tech supposed to ask about the headset part. I didn't see that there is a headset jack on the right side.

Overall I'm still quite happy with the phone. My #1 is the headset button. When you've spent years and years lifting the handset each time you want to answer or place a call. . .it's great not to have to do that any longer.

I work in a large office but they give us cheap phones. I had a speaker phone that indicated when a voicemail was received but that finally bit the dust. No office supply stores had what I was looking for which was a single line, speaker phone with a Voicemail indicator. I ran across this phone and never heard about this company but I took a chance. I am very pleased. The lighted display is great and you can angle it to your desired viewing area. There is a small blinking LED indicator light for waiting voicemails. Speaker phone. Caller ID. Several memory position and some other features that I really like. If you are looking for a one line phone that can accept an internal voicemail system this is not a bad phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 1-line Phone, August 26, 2011

When my old phone started to fail I decided I would find a phone that was better suited to my needs. Besides the usual features such as speed dial and caller ID, I wanted a phone that I could plug a headset into. There are a lot of consumer phones that you can plug a headset into, but the vast majority of them disable the handset and the speaker when the headset is plugged in. This is frustrating because in order to answer the phone, you have to put the headset on first; sometimes if you don't get to it fast enough, the call goes over to voice mail. Not with this phone; you can grab the handset or the speaker button and then switch over to the headset if needed; an absolute boon if you have to do occasional phone support. The sound quality of the headset is dependant on the headset, but the sound quality of the speaker and the handset is very good with a decent range on the volume control. I also like the lit headset, speaker, hold and mute buttons; and the nice big display, which is well lit and readable from any angle; and the use of a power supply instead of batteries. My only compaint is trivial -- the caller ID does not take advantage of any names stored in the phone's directory, something cell phones do and surprisingly, my old phone did too.

I am constantly on the phone for work and can't afford a bad connection. I initially thought it was because I have a digital phone line and addressed my concerns with the cable company. After confirmation from them that the connection cutting out was not due to the phone line, I purchased another phone as a replacement and haven't had a single problem. I'm dissapointed this item didn't perform better, and doesn't offer more than a 30 day warranty. For just a slightly higher purchase price at Staples, I was able to get a better performing product with a 2 year warranty.

I ordered this phone for use in my home office and it has worked exactly as advertised. It lacks the weight and feeling of the more expensive Avaya VoIP phones I was used to in my employer's office environment, but makes up for it with relative simplicity of use and reliability. One Con to note: the speakerphone mic/receiver isn't as clear to callers on the other end as I would have liked and some have reported not being able to hear me clearly, even when I was close to the console. Overall, I recommend this for normal home office use. It's the right price and it simply works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional office phone for small business, December 9, 2011

I was looking for a phone for a home office that was headset capable, with clear caller ID, the option of a few speed dials, a clear message waiting light, and a distinctive ring for incoming calls from specific numbers. This phone offers all of those things and works well. The headset jacks (for both 2.5mm and RJ9/11 connector) in conjunction with the headset button work perfectly. Caller ID is large and the screen illuminates when a call is coming in. Sound quality is good. Overall this is just what we needed. Have only had it for a few weeks so can't comment on longevity, but so far it seems sturdy and likely to last for awhile.

I have needed a new phone for a while and finally found one that fulfilled my needs. It is a single line phone (so many are multi but I only have and need one line), it doesn't have an answering machine (I have voicemail with Comcast) and it has the other features I require such as speakerphone and the ability to use a headset. I only have two issues with this phone, which I do not feel require that I return it:

1. There is a slight bit of static when I first press the speaker or headset button. I am not sure the cause but the static goes away once the call is placed/received. My conference calls tend to go for hours and I have not had issues so far with any recurring static. I have asked colleagues about the quality of the call, if they hear static, echos, etc., and the response was no. The user manual does say that the phone should not be close to heat sources, etc., so maybe the PC fan is the cause of the static when I first place or receive a call.

2. The voicemail button doesn't allow me to code the Comcast code for voicemail which starts with an '*'. It is expecting a number only so I cannot use the fastpath for voicemail unless of course I can find a number to use with Comcast.

I like the display. It is very readable and doesn't require my reading glasses.

So far I am happy I bought this phone.

I don't know how this phone could get a 5 star rating. I've had it for 44 days & #s 4,5,6 on the keypad do not work. This phone is useless & now it's too late to return it to Amazon.
Other than that it's a nice phone, but this is a deal breaker. Will just receive calls on it & use my iPhone for outgoing calls--it always works!
---------
Later: called Cortelco & it does have a 5 year warranty so am returning it for repair/replacement. How long will I be without my business phone? Will be forwarding those calls to my iPhone. Grumble grumble.
