V-8-powered victory.

2003 marked the 50th anniversary of the Chevy Corvette, one of the worlds most beloved sports cars. That same year, the Corvette Racing team fought to win American Le Mans Series for the third season in a row. The Prodrive Ferrari team proved to be serious competition for Corvette Racing. By the end of the season, however, it was Corvette who emerged victorious. Kit features full engine, chassis and roll cage detail; a one-piece, lift-off body; soft black tires and decals for the 2003 Le Mans version (including interior details).

The major disappointment with this kit is that the body is molded in one piece. It would have been nice for Revell to mold the front (hood) and rear deck as separate parts so you wouldn't have to remove the body to display the interior where all the detail is. That is also one reason why the body is sitting a bit high, because I didn't glue it in place.

The body is painted with three light coats of Krylon Fusion Patriotic Blue. I know it's not as dark as the real car but this is what I could find. After research, the Krylon Fusion Navy Blue would have been closer to the dark color of the real Corvette. I opted for the driving lamps where the "Corvette" license plate was, I think it looks better. The fender vents and the vent on the hood is painted with semi-gloss black and the mirrors are gloss black. The air intake grills are painted flat black and drybrushed with silver. The rear panel is painted gloss black.

The decals were thin and went on without a problem. The hood stripes needed to be put down with decal set to make them sit correctly.

The rear "splitter" under the car is covered with a decal. This wasn't that bad to apply, just takes some patience.

This model was fun to build and i can't remember any significant issues with fit. I really like this type of racing cars and wish the manufacturers would release more.
