This review is from: Corvette Evolution GT (Video Game)
This game has several good things going for it. First, it features many officially licensed cars by General Motors, Audi, Volkswagen, Renault and several other manufacturers. The cars are also prone to damage in career mode (not quick-play/exhibition). I also like the video training and introductions in career mode. You can tell that Valcon (not capcom) put allot of work into this game, and it shows with relatively good graphics.
This game also features some special effect moves, like Knockout and Tiger Effect. The Knockout happens when you get behind an opponent and put pressure on him. If you can drain his concentration meter, his screen will go blurry and he will be unable to maintain control. The Tiger effect move is like "Prince of Persia", as it allows you to avoid mistakes by rewinding time. Whether these 2 moves add to or take away from the game is up for debate. I think they add. The worst part of the game is that it is bland and has bad controls; in my opinion, nothing ruins a game worse than bad control. Even with these fantastic cars, I felt like I was driving on ice. It's incredibly hard to make turns, even at 50 MPH, and your vehicle will slide 10-15 feet using the hand brake at only 30 MPH (very frustrating). This is where the Tiger effect becomes essential. Between the bad controls and getting KO-ed by opponents, you will need plenty of Tiger rewinds. graphics=4 stars controls=2 stars fun & replay value=2.5 stars |
