This review is from: Corvette Grand Sport 1962-67 (Hardcover)
of the Grand Sport Corvette. This book has some fascinating ancedotes about the development and racing of these rare machines. It also has some of the most detailed photographs of this era of racing I've ever seen. If you need a reference for the Grand Sport, this book is well worth the money (and the wait - it took almost six weeks to arrive). It covers all five of the Grand Sports build by Chevrolet and follows them through their lifetime, even including some beautiful color pictures of the restored cars in modern times. I absolutely recommend this book for any fan of Corvettes, the Grand Sport, or just the racing of that period in history.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book About A Great Car, June 14, 2009
This review is from: Corvette Grand Sport 1962-67 (Hardcover)
I saw one race when John Mecom brought them back from Nassau in 1965. The car had to run in SCCA's C Modified class. The sight of a car that large accelerating (that) fast left an impression that's still with me today. Local owner/driver Delmo Johnson put on a driving display that none of could ever forget, as he passed the competition on, and at times off, the track.

5.0 out of 5 stars Corvette Grand Sport Photographic Race Log of the Magnificent Chevrolet Corvette Factory Specials 1962-1967, February 14, 2009
This review is from: Corvette Grand Sport 1962-67 (Hardcover)
Corvette Grand Sport Photographic Race Log of the Magnificent Chevrolet Corvette Factory Specials 1962-1967:
I love this book, I Purchased the 1999 hardcover version(with the #80 Car on the Cover) awhile back. The story in all of its glory. This was and is the Cobra killer.and the shelby boys and ford boys running scared! shame that these cars did not get the recognition they deserve. There is one Discrepancy which is odd,in the 1989 Hardcover Which I also have(Rare even more Expensive 1st Edition with The #3 Delmo Johnson/Dave Morgan on the cover, same isbn and amount of pages, but it says Mbi and MRP-Motorracing Publications on the side hardcover) Version on the last Page there is the Wintersteen Grand Sport #12 Roadster Passing a GT40,this photo is not in the 1999 Version. There is also no Index in the Original Book only in subsequent editions,Also while the 1999 Book has subtitled inside on the 2nd Page:Photographic Race Log of The Magnificent Chevrolet Corvette Factory Specials 1962-1967,the Original 1989 Book has The Subtitle on the Very Front Cover and on the Page.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book to build a Corvette library around, November 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Corvette Grand Sport 1962-67 (Hardcover)
This is one of the most comprehensive books on the Corvette Grand Sport that I have seen. It covers it's origination in good detail, has many early photos, and clearly shows how this car developed from the years 62-67. It also discusses why it became outdated, the pros and cons of driving it at high speeds, and the politics of the day surrounding racing sponsorship.

There are a few detail oriented mistakes, but for the most part it is an excellent book for the diehard Corvette enthusiast, or a very interesting "Table Top" book for the Man Cave in the house.

I enjoy this book immensely and would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in this period of time of the Corvettes past.
