1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Horrible, March 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cory Everson's Step 'N Time [VHS] (VHS Tape)
To be avoided at all costs. There are so many good step workouts available- spend your money on one of them. The music is terrible, costumes are tacky, and the warm-up is unsafe.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea, Poor Execution, December 29, 2003

The concept of this step video is unique: the use of music and background images from different "eras" of rock music. This workout is divided into separate segments, each with a different theme such as "flower child" and "disco duck" (no hip hop or even 80s). Some of the moves incorporated in the combinations include the "airplane," "pony," "speed skater," "batter up," etc. Unfortunately, they do not use real music from these eras but generic techno music that remotely resembles the theme. The sections do not connect, but completely stop and then go into the next combo with new outfits, background, etc. The "unsafe" warm-up includes a move where you turn your knees in and out. I have a bad knee and definitely can say this move is not safe. I avoid it during the warm-up. There are two cool downs: one with "dog poo wipes" and "fire hydrants" that never seem to end, the other being a stretch.

The one good point about this video is that it is different. The music and style is a change of pace from other step videos. I don't think it is very effective as you just jump around. There are no moves that isolate muscles where you can feel the burn. Despite its faults, it is part of my rotation. I do not use it nearly as much as other videos, but I like having it for the uniqueness and variety. Unless you are looking for an odd workout to freshen up a boring routine, however, I would not recommend this video nor would I recommend to a beginner or any stepper who is not yet at the point where they know what moves to avoid while stepping. I hope a better instructor copies the idea, though. A video using a selection of 70s, 80s, 90s music clips in a musical collage in time would be awesome (are you reading this GIN MILLER?).

1.0 out of 5 stars This is probably the worst step video ever!, June 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Cory Everson's Step 'N Time [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I can only agree with the previous reviewer who advised to avoid this one. I think I purchased it and returned it to the store. It's been a couple of years since I did this video, but I still remember it as being awful. Cory's counting and cueing were off and many of the moves were unsafe. I would not recommend this tape to anyone!
