A kitchen stool that helps the elderly,
By
This review is from: Cosco 11-130WHT Chair/Step Stool, White (Tools & Home Improvement)
My mom is elderly and because of numerous medical problems is unable to walk very far in the house without sitting down. This chair/stool works great for her. It is high enough up that she doesn't have a great deal of trouble getting back up on her feet. The wide seat make her feel more secure while she it sitting. It is also a manageable weight to move to different parts of the kitchen. The one down side is that it needs to be put together. The instructions are clear, but you have to make sure you follow them EXACTLY and use the right size bolt for the task you are currently doing. Mom has two of these chairs and really loves the mobility they allow her to have. Make sure that you stand on the bottom step before the bolts are completely tightened to cause the steps and frame to settle and minimize chair wobble.

A fine stool,

This combo chair/stool is a duplicate of the stool that my family has used for almost twenty years, so it is easy to recommend. It is a bit heavier but also much sturdier and stable. It is ideal for the small kitchen as long as you remember that the seat is part of the chair and not a third step. :)

Cute, functional, and sturdy,

I bought this step stool/chair years ago to use to reach high shelves in my kitchen. We've used it for 6 years and it's still in great shape. The steps are easy to access--just flip up the seat. The chair is easy to wipe clean. My toddler now uses this chair as "her" chair at the kitchen table. It is the perfect height for her. My only complaint is that the seat will pinch little fingers if you're not careful.

VERY HANDY !,

I am very happy with this kitchen chair. My partner had no problem putting it together, it went quite quickly. It is just the right height for my 5'2" body and the seat is quite generous, as is mine. The curved back is quite comfortable in spite of not being padded. The seat lifts up and into the curve of the frame so it is out of the way and in a stable position for use as a step stool. The white is actually a true white and looks very nice with my white appliances. Now in my fondest dreams I would have liked to have been able to perch on the bottom step to work in my lower cabinets but it (and my rear) is just not shaped that way. But I am able to use it to lift myself up from the floor when working in those cabinets. I had started out looking at their stool where the steps swing out but the reviews scared me away from that model. But I am very satisfied this product.

Nice compact study step stool,

The stool is sturdy and nice looking. Small and compact but appears to be for petite people since the height of the steps is not high at just 9+ and 17+ inches. This stool will work for you if you are not tall and don't have high kitchen cabinets. We have some high kitchen cabinets and are unable to reach the back of those cabinets! The seat is also narrow and appears not to fit the average person. Great item to save space and almost ideal for our use. Cons besides the low steps' height are product price with shipping costs and the stool does not fold away for storage.

I purchased this chair/step stool for the purpose of having a stool in the kitchen with a back on it so we could sit at the counter and work more comfortably. I thought this would be a good one since it could double as a step ladder. It's only good for a step stool as far as I'm concerned since the back is extremely uncomfortable. I've tried putting a pillow behind me and it still isn't comfortable. I feel like I wasted my money because I really needed something with a functional back. If I had to do it over again, I would not purchase this stool.

I purchased a stool like this one back in 1978 when we first got married, with the Gold Bond Stamp (remember those). It lasted until just recently, and boy, did we use it. As a high chair, when painting, changing light bulbs, you name it,(and my husband is still using it in the garage). I was happy to have found they were still being made. I purchased another not long ago for our use and now another one for my daughter's home. Hopefully, these ones will last as long as our first one did.

Not what expected from Cosco,

This just not get it as a kitchen work stool. Much too low, useless as such, very uncomfortable most especially the back, small, narrow seat. I plan to remove the back and find another place in house to use it, example; spare seat at dinner table, possibly sitting at my synth, doing small projects at a desk/work area. Old Cosco seats much, much better! Assembly does take some time, not a simple put together, be prepared. Keep in mind that it does not fold for tucking away when not being used

I ordered this step stool because I had one exactly like it that recently broke. My old one was so much better. This one the first step is too low, the back of this one is uncomfortable. The old one wasn't a cushy chair, but this one is downright uncomfortable. It's sad that only Cosco makes these. I had read up on this one and the other one that they make and looked at the photos. The other one has steps that are too narrow, this one's steps are not too narrow. That's all the good I can say about it. Hey Cosco, stop being cheap and remake the original in the manner and materials you made them in before, I'd have paid a bit more for the quality that you used to have.

After hours of attemps to assemble this, we've given up. We're taking it back and finding something else. Poor quality.
