This is a fantastic ladder. Very tall and stable. Having the bar at the top gives you something to lean against for support, so your legs don't start trembling from the strain of trying to balance and not fall. I find it hard to stand confidently on ladders without some sort of stabilizer at the top to lean on, and I especially hate extension ladders. The steps were wide enough to place foot securely on them (Wear rubber soled shoes, or the stairs are somewhat slick.) The top platform step is very nice and easy to stand on. It is also lightweight and easy to carry, especially with the handle lock that keeps it from opening while you are carrying it.
I also have the six foot version of this ladder for shorter applications around the house. This 8" version is for those really tall 2-story windows and cleaning tall shelves, changing some light bulbs, even cleaning gutters outside.
it is important to get the correct dimensions of this ladder to understand how it is an eight foot ladder. The top step is actually at 67", or 5'7", so that combined with average height of 5'4" person, plus the reach of your arms is how they figure it is an 8' ladder. (Even that math doesn't really tally in my head, but that is the base equation they use to determine the height they say a ladder is. This information in the product description would have been helpful to aid in selection.) I had to call the company and a lady went to the warehouse and measured it for me.
Anyway, in my opinion, you can't put a price on your health and safety. The price is very fair for the ladder to begin with, and the stability and security of having a safe ladder I can rely on makes it invaluable to me. If it saves me from even one fall off of any other type of ladder, it paid for itself 10-fold in my mind. Hope this review helps!

I bought this ladder for a home with 9 foot ceilings. I did not buy a multi-use ladder because they would be too heavy for my wife.

Pro: The handle-lock makes it easy to carry. Surprisingly stable for something so light-weight. The top has two trays that make it very easy to do home-improvement projects. Great reach for indoor and outdoor projects. Excellent weight rating.

Con: One of the trays at the top has a flimsy cover. The handle-lock feels flimsy as well. Expensive.

Overall: Very usable for general home purposes. However, the price prevents it from receiving 5 stars.

First off, I don't know why anyone would pay this price, I got this same ladder at home-depot for $105.00

After reading the reviews on this site, and finding it for allot less, I decided to buy it.
I got this ladder as it had a platform and railing to allow me to stand upon without feeling nervous. I felt very secure when standing on the top platform and was able to work without fear of losing my balance. I use it to replace the light bulbs on my 10-foot high ceilings. The tray came in handy to put the new light bulbs on it without having to go up and down several times.
The handle makes it easy to carry around, very light for the size. The only thing I would say it that you need to make sure the legs are pushed fully apart before using. While it did cost more than a standard 8-foot step ladder, the security of a platform to stand on made it worth the extra money. The only thing that would make it better would be that it had cross braces to ensure the legs are fully spread. Also I'm not sure how the plastic hinges will hold up over time.

I liked this ladder so much that I bought a six foot one too. Very easy to use, and carry for a women. Good for everyday use inside, & outside of the house. The platform near the top of the ladder makes it easy to stand on. Safer to use than the ones with the thin rungs on them, and a lot more comforable too. The tray is a nice touch so you can put your tools, etc. on it without having to go up, and down the ladder more than is necessary.

This is a high quality ladder that I found on Home Depot's site for $105. Consumer Reports highly recommended it and I do, too. Not sure why it costs so much more here.

The absolute best! I'm 61 and not as nimble and agile as I once was so I must select carefully what I can use safely. Lightweight, easy to carry, stable, steady and safe all describe this ladder. I now confidently do those little choirs I love to do that require a ladder. Thanks for designing something so perfect for me! Amazon, thanks to you for being so convenient, dependable, easy to use and affordable. I'll always look to you first and not waste my time with other sources that just don't quite measure up.

Just received this ladder and it is quality built to say the least. It arrived in great condition, and is easy to set up. Actually, it's very sturdy and doesn't slide on laminate floors. I really like the extra tray(s) to hold tools and the platform to stand on is quite sturdy. This is a great price and a lot less than some other stores. It is also easy to move around and I'm just 5'2" tall.
