Celma Perry draws upon 40 years of study and experience, including the ideas of her own teachers, de Lenval and Faure. Information is shared in the form of clear outlines of content, sequence and activities for cosmic studies with young children, along with plentiful examples, short but apt narrative on child development, and how this curriculum guide relates to it. Co-author Fedorowicz, a MECA-Seton staff member who holds a master of science degree, is also a credited source for this3rd-edition revision.
Covered in this curriculum scheme are the childs relation to matter and energy (Natural Sciences) the childs relation to space(Geography), and the childs relation to time (History), with an especially fascinating outline for prehistory activities.
While some of the material will not be new to many early childhood teachers, the overview presents a "big picture" every teacher needs. The 3-year cycle of activity recommended by the book provides an excellent look at the possibilities for cosmic studies with Montessori preschool children.
