5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy!, November 18, 2006

My seven year old and her friends love this! Her dad and I even enjoy playing this with her. ( I originally bought this because I wanted a game to play with my daughter that my husband and I would enjoy playing also.)
It has four game modes. (Fast Pass, Code Challenge, Add One, Your Out) We've never bothered to read the directions, so we haven't figured out two of the games yet (Code Challenge & Add One). It doesn't mattter though because we have so much fun playing Fast Pass & Your Out.

The battery compartment was a little difficult to get to (it's under a thick padding of foam). It's great that the battery compartment is padded though, because it could be dangerous throwing around if it was hard. I haven't had any trouble with the batteries jostling around. I really don't see how that the batteries could do that, if the screws are fully screwed in.

I would highly recommend. Kids and adults both love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy and how to open battery compartment, February 3, 2008

This is a great toy. My niece and nephew love it, and adults can have fun playing it too.

My solution to the the major problem of opening the battery compartment... You need a #0 or #1 phillips head screwdriver. You can buy them at any hardware store. They are also commonly found in precision screwdriver sets (the kind to adjust eyeglasses). I tried using a regular small phillips head, and I couldn't get it. I went at it for over forty minutes on two separate occasions. Once I used a #1 phillips... Bingo... right away, no problem.

The screws are set down about an inch into the foam. They are not covered by the foam, more like countersunk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun!, November 29, 2006

This is a really cool toy and uses some pretty cool technology. It comes with 8 colored bracelets that the ball can identify when the wearer catches the ball. There are four games to play including, "figure out the sequence (of catchers)", hot potato, speed pass in which the ball tells you where to throw next, and make your own sequence that grows and you have to repeat. It's a nice active way to keep your brain moving. The wrist bands are somewhat bulky in your hands (you have to wear the plastic medalion in your palm), but I had my 8 year old wearing them and playing w/o any real trouble. The ball is the standard soft nerf material and yes the batteries are buried in it, but with the right jeweler's phillips head screw driver (or even a regular small regular one) you won't have any trouble. I did not have any of the battery contact trouble referred to in other reviews, but we did only play it for about an hour so far.

It took us an hour to figure out how to open the battery compartment. (The screws are buried under an inch of foam.) Then, when it was being used, the ball would intermittently stop working because the batteries lost contact. (The pieces of metal they are supposed to touch are small and flimsy, and the ball gets jolted during regular play.)

Nice idea, but we can't recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gotta Be A Hit!!!, October 26, 2006
This review is from: Cosmic Catch - Colors May Vary (Toy)
I bought this product for my 9 year old son after he saw the commercial. The kids absolutely love it, even my 13 year old and he doesn't like anything. I pulled it out for a joke at a dinner party last weekend and 6 normally sane adults had more fun than we'd had in 6 months!! It's truly magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy, December 30, 2006
This review is from: Cosmic Catch - Colors May Vary (Toy)
Almost didn't buy for my grandsons when saw problems getting to batteries. There must be a lot of idiots out there that don't know the difference between a philips and a slotted screw driver. It took me approximately 1 minute to unscrew, put in the batteries and rescrew the battery cover on. DuH. Great toy. Grandsons, daughter and spouse have been playing without any problems for over 1 week. Of course batteries wear out, that's how Everedy makes money. Recommend buy.

Must be among the seriously mechanically challenged. Based on the reviews I almost didn't buy this expecting the battery design to be some kind of problem, no worries, it is not a problem. The battery compartment design is very good.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had almost more fun, December 4, 2006
This review is from: Cosmic Catch - Colors May Vary (Toy)
My son got this for his birthday, and my brother-in-law and I had just about as much fun or more than my son did. The battery compartment is a pain, but other than that, it was hilariously fun. I'm thinking about sneaking it out to football tailgates next season!

2.0 out of 5 stars have a screwdriver handy..., November 21, 2006

The reviewer that said that the batteries keep losing contact is right. We were getting maybe an hour or two of play on each changeout of 4-AAA's. Then I read that review and tried just removing and replacing the same batteries when it stopped working. Sure enough it started working again. Quite a pain to keep having to do this and I have a feeling the small screws are going to stip very soon and we'll have to chuck it in the trash. My son got this for a birthday present, and he really does love it, but its a piece of junk just like the other reviewer said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Enjoyable toy !, December 27, 2006
This review is from: Cosmic Catch - Colors May Vary (Toy)
Good game for all ages. Played for hours with the kids and adults at Christmas. You just need the correct size screwdriver to reach the batteries. The first time we saw this, we knew it was a winner. My kids jumped up and down when they opened it (and they are twin girls.....). So far we have played 8 hours and have had no issues yet.
If we can find another one, we will purchase it for a gift.
