Book Description

With the onset of sudden profound deafness at the age of 29, Barbara Brodsky set out on a quest to understand the nature of illness and healing, examining the interrelationship of mind and body and our capacity to transcend limitation. Asking the questions What is healing? Who and what heals? Why do some people heal while others do not? she discusses karma and free will, our habit of identifying with a limited sense of self, and our potential for greater healing.

A longtime Buddhist practitioner who began meditation in the ’60s, Brodsky discovered a new path on her healing journey when she began channeling the spirit Aaron in 1989. Based on three decades of meticulously kept journals, Cosmic Healing weaves together Brodsky’s Buddhist teachings, channeled material from Aaron, exercises for the reader, and an account of her experiences with the healer known as John of God (João Teixeira de Faria) at his teaching center, Casa de Dom Inácio, in Brazil. While Cosmic Healing is channeled in part and has deep roots in traditional dharma, it is at heart a universal story of human growth and discovery. Old beliefs limit us every day. But as Brodsky discovered and teaches, we can learn to recognize such limiting beliefs, transcend them, and live a deeper truth.

From the Trade Paperback edition.

As a local person living in Abadiania, GO, Brazil, where the Casa De Dom Inacio hosts people seeking healing each week, year after year, from all over the world, I find this to be an amazing compilation and explanation of the inner workings of Spirit here at the Casa, and in our daily lives wherever we are. Whether one ever plans to visit John of God, or ever has the opportunity to meet Barbara and her eternal Guide and friend, Aaron, this is a clear, compassionate, and concise spiritual guide for finding one's way through healing all levels of our being, and strengthening ourselves as Instuments of Light for serving and being served as we grow in Love.

Barbara's humble revelations of her intense struggles and yet, heartfelt daily commitment, amidst ongoing doubts and immense challenges, are a bonus, in understanding the difficulties each may find on the path, once we say 'yes' to serving and being served. Here one finds the overwhelming compassion and interaction of Spirit with us, and what we can do to align ourselves to connect on a daily basis. This and more are all here for the reader, in simple and profound passages that kept me wanting to turn the next page as I felt Barbara's life unfolding with her growing understanding of how God and Spirit are always with us, guiding and loving us, when we finally open our hearts to receiving what is always already waiting for us... Divine Love and Compassion.

This is one of the best books I have ever read, with all one needs to efficiently grasp and understand what is required of each of us as we commit our lives to God, and to healing ourselves and each other. Bravo, Barbara and Aaron! My eternal gratitude for your placing this beautiful stream of consciousness along the path for all who are blessed to discover it. We need more of this kind of efficient clarity available to all who are seekers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very enlightening August 2, 2013
By Cuddles
I don't write many reviews, but I felt compelled to write this one.

What an astonishing piece of work this is. I was dazzled from the first page at the depth of understanding and the level of love and compassion in it. I have never heard of this author before, so I was wary. Also, the book's quite thick, and I was braced for the possibility that it might be dull. But once you get into the rhythms of it, it knocks your socks off.

Tremendously enlightening. Best book on this subject I've ever read, and I've read A LOT.

This book was so inspiring and thought provoking that I knew I had to meet Barbara & Aaron. I accomplished this by going to Barbara's retreat in Michigan and it was the most memorable retreat I have ever been on. I would highly encourage anyone on a spiritual journey to read this book. 5.0 out of 5 stars Plenty to chew on September 20, 2014
By Tea
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have not yet finished the entire book because I'm finding insights here and attempting to think through how they'd apply to my own life.

Barbara's insights are more along Buddhist lines while I am a (progressive) Christian, but the ideas on applying forgiveness, for example, are profound and perennial wisdom. In fact, Christian writing has never explained forgiveness to my satisfaction; I've had to go to these new-agey books to understand it better. Christianity tends to treat it like a commandment or discipline, but it's much more than that; it's a part of the interwoven whole of spiritual maturity. You can't force it as an operation separate from everything else, undertaking it as some kind of an unpleasant job we're ordered to do.

You can't get to spiritual maturity without learning to practice forgiveness, and in turn spiritual maturity makes it more natural, possible, and understandable to forgive. You work on these things in onion-layers, with each layer both requiring and enabling more depth, maturity, trust, and love. Forgiveness is just one example of the issues in this book, so there's plenty to chew on. Not a fast read.

It is hard to put into words the value of this book. I especially love the part about John of God and Healing Spirits, how the cosmic healing takes place, what happens when we are receiving Super Charged Light. It is Amazingly explained in this book.
Wonderful story of One's own healing Journey....Absolutely recommend. I work with "Crystal Light Bed" healing sessions and I witness cosmic healing during each session....truly transforming , opening us to "there is more to life than we can see".
