Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Using an admixture of elements from Star Trek, world religions and a psychic technique called scientific remote viewing (SRV) developed by the Pentagon during the Cold War, Emory University political science professor Brown has put together a collection of his SRV sessions in 1993- 1994 and reveals what he learned from them: there was humanoid life on Mars, but that planet became uninhabitable, so a number of Martians escaped to Earth, where some live in subterranean caverns in New Mexico and others in a location in Latin America that the author declines to reveal. Brown writes that replication is a yardstick of the scientific method, but he presents no evidence from other practitioners of SRV who allegedly shared his discoveries. Most surprising, no attempt has been made to establish physical contact with the colonies of Martians supposedly on our planet, leaving the reader to assume they are there only because Brown says so. Despite the publisher's claim that the book "resolves major questions about extraterrestrials," skeptics are apt to be even more skeptical after reading it. Author tour.

Review

This presents a scientific discovery of extraterrestrials visiting earth: a documented story of the author's personal investigation based on a classified military procedure. Brown was trained in this method: he presents his case for discovery of two ongoing alien involvements in Earth matters: a Martian race and advanced humanoids surviving environmental extinction. -- Midwest Book Review

More About the Author

Courtney Brown is a mathematician and social scientist who teaches in the Department of Political Science at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his Ph.D. degree from Washington University (St. Louis) in 1982 in political science with an emphasis on mathematical modeling. He began his teaching career as a college calculus instructor in Africa before moving on to teach nonlinear differential and difference equation modeling in the social sciences at the University of California at Los Angeles, Emory University, and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research Summer Program at the University of Michigan. He has published numerous books on applied nonlinear mathematical modeling in the social sciences, including two new volumes, one on applied differential equation systems (2007) and another on graph algebra (2008), a new graphical language used for modeling systems. He also has an interest in political music, and has recently published a book on the subject. Independent of his work as a college professor, he is the Director and founder of The Farsight Institute (www.farsight.org), a nonprofit research and educational organization dedicated to the study of a phenomenon of nonlocal consciousness known as "remote viewing." He recently published a book titled "Remote Viewing: The Science and Theory of Nonphysical Perception." In this book he analyzes data and develops a new theory that explains the remote-viewing phenomenon as a consequence of superposition formation on the quantum level.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting approach to proving alien existence, November 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Cosmic Voyage: 8A Scientific Discovery of Extraterrestrials Visiting Earth (Hardcover)
Although I enjoyed reading this controversial book, I am still somewhat skeptical as to the methods the author undertakes to prove alien existence. Brown does not support many of his claims with hard scientific evidence. As a scientist myself, I simply cannot accept conclusions without the appropriate data to support the claims made. However, I do feel that there is more going on in this physical world than the common man perceives and I thank Brown for his opinions on this matter. In conclusion, I recommend this book to anyone interested in alien phenomena. There is no saying that you can't be abducted next!

1.0 out of 5 stars How conveniently the truth confirms all the authors beliefs, August 14, 1997
This review is from: Cosmic Voyage: 8A Scientific Discovery of Extraterrestrials Visiting Earth (Hardcover)
I started Courtney Brown's book "Cosmic Voyage" with a great deal of enthusiasm. His introductory remarks on the scientific principle of repeatability and his general tone of rationality were admirable -- at last a serious look at Remote Viewing as a tool for the study of alien visitations -- or so I thought. Unfortunately Professor Brown did nothing to confirm he adhered to these principles. This book is a series of personal accounts of his experiences with Remote Viewing. Even the monitor he used is kept secret -- strange for a supposedly scientific examination. Ultimately, the book turned out to be a validation of his own belief systems by way of his experiences in a highly controversial subject -- the last place you would expect that would be appropriate. Pathetically, his own accounts repeatedly contradict what he would have us to believe. He insists on giving aliens labels such as "Jesus" and "Buddha", even when the alleged aliens protest that this is useless or makes no sense. Most damaging is his bizarre use of Star Trek terminology as applied to real phenomenon. As a political scientist, Professor Brown should be aware that modern physics is no stranger to unfamiliar concepts like time travel and hyper-dimensional descriptions of space. His use of terms from the science fiction pop-culture made it extremely hard to remember this was supposed to be a work of non-fiction. Finally, I find it very hard to believe the central concept of the book: the future is known exactly by beings with the right mental or physical capabilities. Even other books on Remote Viewing don't go along with this. It's very hard to see how a universe could exist with the physical paradoxes that would result if this were possible

5.0 out of 5 stars Cosmic Voyages, September 25, 2006

WOW!!! Thats what I kept saying the entire time I was reading this. I have been touched by many books that I have read, but this one, spoke directly to my heart. I believe people interested in the UFO phenomenon, will find this book amazingly well written, and confirms aspects of the UFO encounters that many have experienced. Remote viewing can, and will be the way of the future for all interested in contact with alien beings from other worlds. Dr. Browns experiences are well documented, and the discussions that take place after his remote viewing sessions opened my mind, and was very insightful. I have purchased several copies of this book, because everyone that I have borrowed it to, has decided that they had to keep it for future references. I now just give it to all my friends & family as a gift. I believe that everyone that reads this will be WOW'd...
