Editorial Reviews

Review

“I highly recommend Mark Borax to all pioneers working toward the conscious evolution of ourselves and our world.”—Barbara Marx Hubbard, author of Conscious Evolution: Awakening Our Social Potential

“Just about everyone has something to say about the world, the universe, our situation; these raps, however radical, outrageous, or alien-channeled, are still vaguely familiar, rote. Ellias Lonsdale has found a new way to speak for our incarnation, for existence itself, and as cosmic, divine intelligence. He is a lone voice of reason, hope, and rebirth—real hope, real and stable global resurrection in the Aquarian Age.”—Richard Grossinger, author of 2013: Raising the Earth to the Next Vibration and The Bardo of Waking Life

This is not the sort of information to breeze through. It is not necessary to know astrology to find it valuable. This is a book to be savored, revisited and meditated upon. It is a wake up call at a critical epoch in human evolution. What is shared may seem quite out of the box. It can be so revolutionary, you won't be able to keep it in your brain at first read.

I met Ellias Lonsdale at a bookstore in Palo Alto, California in 1973. We met again on Maui in 1992: picking up where we left off. If you didn't know Ellias, or did not have some sense of personal experience with his teaching, you might think "this is crazy". Not so. Ellias is a profound, sane, funny, and grounded person with a breath of wisdom that is rare. Throughout my life have have been stuck with a a profound sense of recognition for what this real life wizard has to share. Max Borax has done a great service in bringing his thinking forward in book form.

I think the book best speaks for itself:

"For centuries we have lived a split existence. The human soul has become split between the work above and the world below. We're like superheros with amnesia, who got lost in their secret identities and forgot about their powers."

"The one who dwells above has been banished from our material culture in recent time."

"This strange dilemma of The Secret Identities Who Took Over the World got more and more extreme in the last century. We've become utterly dependent on a way of life that substitutes semblance for substance and worships outer at the expense of inner. People are trained to contradict their gut instinct and betray their deep inner truth as a matter of course.

I'm currently enjoying the spring of 2011 in northern California. The winter rains are giving way to bright sunshine and the promise of new life coming out of the ground. At the same time, 2012 is fast approaching and all of the doomsdayers out there are having a field day with their dire predictions. This book is about optimum ways to handle our turbulent times. Throughout is a message of positivity: there are things we can do to navigate this critical time in the evolution of our species. Each of us is called upon to play our own unique roles in the planetary drama. There is much practical advice from Ellias and Mark as how best to do this, but I want to focus on one particular technique that spoke to me deeply. Growing up in a dysfunctional family situation, I watched my older brother and sister rebel against our authoritarian parents and get squashed in the process. I decided, in an unconscious thirst for survival, that there must be a better way and chose to shut down my feelings and impulses whenever they went counter to my parents' wishes. I was rewarded by not getting squashed, but it came with a steep price: a fear of "contrary" feelings. I brought these fears with me into my adult life and coped by embracing the lofty non-dual philosophy of ancient India, by invoking thoughts such as "I am the ocean and not the wave...I am not these feelings but the foundation of pure consciousness out of which they spring," etc. Ellias and Mark point out that this kind of witnessing consciousness has important value, but only if it is balanced by the awareness that I am the wave, too, in all of its uniqueness and individuality. Both truths are to be honored in an exquisite dance.Read more ›

Disclosure: I bought this book because I am negotiating a contract with the publisher for a book in their new Manifesto series (tentative title: Manifesto for Truth--Public Intelligence in the Public Interest). I wanted to get a "sense" of where the publisher was grounded. I am also looking at (these were given to me) four of the books by Patricia Cori the most interesting to me being an early one, No More Secrets, No More Lies: A Handbook to Starseed Awakening (Sirian Revelations).

Ten years ago I would have considered this book--and those of Patricia Cori--to be off the wall, psycho-babble. Not now! Now, after a decade of being exposed to deeply grounded common sense among individuals such as Tom Atlee, Harrison Owen, Paul Hawkins, Barbara Marx-Hubbard, Peggy Holman and so many others, I find this book to be *startlingly* effective, easy to read, and full of *so many* gifted phrases. The authors, each published on their own, are strong together. Along with the other books that I list below within my ten book limit, I absolutely recommend this book as a window into the period of Awakening that begins now--2012 is not about apocalypse, it is about the death of atrocities against humanity by governments and corporations and banks, and the emergence of the human spirit and the human mind into a Whole Earth manifestation that "connects" with the larger Cosmos.
