This magical bedtime story is about Cosmo the Cat, who like all self-respecting cats does not like getting wet. Imagine his horror when is person-friend Melody tells him they are going to move from dry land to a house boat - on the water! Follow the adventures of Cosmo as he learns about conquering his fears while he makes new friends and explores the fragile environment of the coral reef. Along the way Cosmo meets a family of dolphins, a wise old turtle, a manatee, a heron, a mermaid and an eagle ray. Cosmo the Boat Cat is a Children's Story based on the real life adventures of Cosmo living in the Florida Keys.

About the Author
Sherry Sweet Tewell is an artist in Key West, Florida. Originally from the bluegrass state of Kentucky, she traveled to the Florida Keys for many years before making it her home. Sherry and Cosmo live on a house boat and are frequently visited by tarpons, turtles and manatees. . Like the events that inspired this story, she too, had to conquer her fears, make new friends and learn about a different environment. The only constant thing in life is change. Change is good - with change comes personal growth and discovery. When Sherry is not painting, you can find her pretending to be mermaid in the turquoise waters of the Florida keys. Cosmo can be found dreaming up his next big adventure.

Originally from a small town in Kentucky, acclaimed painter and muralist Sherry Sweet Tewell took a fork in the road that led her to the southernmost town in the United States. Now living on a houseboat with her curious cat Cosmo, Sherry was inspired by his antics to paint the story of his adventurers and discoveries. When not painting or creating, you will find Sherry pretending to be a mermaid in the turquoise waters surrounding Key West.

We first got this book when my son was 3...we watched the included DVD many many times and then I tried to read it with a very similar tone and lilt in my voice. The author does a great job narrating this book on the DVD...it's so peaceful and it calms my kids so much to listen to this book and look at the vibrant pictures as we go. Now that 3 year old is 5 and he can recite the book almost word for word from memory to his little 2 year old sister. He even pointed out that the DVD is slightly different from the book when Harvey is on the boat rails and Cosmo takes a dip. He does the voices and everything. The rhymes are so catchy and memorable. Our book is a little worse for wear now from all use...it's definitely a favorite in this house. I loved it so much that I bought a few as gifts for our cousins and other kids. Definitely a little pricey, but totally worth it with all the beautiful artwork and the DVD included.
