5.0 out of 5 stars This Album Rocked My Cosmos!, October 28, 2008
This review is from: The Cosmos Rocks (Audio CD)
Wow what a fun and satisfying debut album by these two great acts! This is real genuine classic rock music with a great selection of song styles - rock, blues, ballads, pop, new wave, even some that's a little country-tinged. Brian May and Roger Taylor bring their trademark Queen sound to the proceedings with distinctive guitar work and percussion, and Paul Rodgers has one of the greatest voices ever. They haven't lost their touch! This album beats anything in the Bad Company catalogue and is as good or better than any album Queen released in the 1980s. A true meeting of equals, the band's histories blend together to make anew and very distinctive sound of its own. Open your ears, clear out your preconceptions, and get ready to enjoy some *real* music by *real* musicians!

5.0 out of 5 stars Queen with a flare, May 30, 2009
This review is from: The Cosmos Rocks (Audio CD)
Queen has done it again. They have evolved into yet another completely phenominal entity. The influences that Paul Rogers has added puts the flare that makes you do a double take on many of the tunes. The fisrt song that I actually replayed several times was 'Time to Shine'. Paul's voice fills the air, replacing the oxygen with the resonance of his vocal energy. 'Small' was the second song that really caught my emotions. How true those words are. Everyone can relate and feels that way at least once a week. 'C-lebrity' is very good, but takes a few plays to really take hold. It's a little trendy. Not quite what I would have expected from them.

Many of the songs almost had too smooth a bass accompaniment. The one thought that keeps running through my head is that if John Deacon could have played on the songs, yet a newer, higher dimension would have been heard. A crispness from Johns playing style would have changed the album completely

2.0 out of 5 stars astral vacuum, March 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Cosmos Rocks (Audio CD)
Gee, I wanted to like this and gave it lots of tries. There are some good moments, but not one song that stuck with me or held my interest after the album was done. I think the boys would do well to fall back to basics and go for a more folk/acoustic music structure like in '39, maybe a little rockabilly and of course a little bit more of that Eastern/Indian type tuning and chords, and build from there.

If they want to go metal, e.g. Brighton Rock era, that would be fine too.

There are 3, maybe 4 tracks one might try to remix, or reproduce, because they're close to the glory of prog-rock. But overall this one is only for die-hard fans.
