Product Description

Throw on the Costa Del Mar Man O War Polarized Sunglasses and head out in search of the big one. Costa Del Ray gave the Man O War removable side shields and a large frame for added coverage from ocean spray or back-road dust. The polarized Costa 580 glass lenses resist scratches when you haul in your catch, and block glare from the water so you can look your prize in the eye.

They definitely do not stand behind there warranty.

Remembering the "Lifetime Warranty" that came with the sunglasses, I contacted Costa via their website and sent in my glasses for repair.

This is not specific to Man o war but costa in general. Sent a pair of costas back for repair under warrant, expensive, 580 glass, 2 years old. The temple broke internally and separated leaving an approximately 3/16 of an inch long flat metal rod which had pulled out from inside the temple piece connected to the hinge. The hinge itself was intact. The temple piece showed no signs of external damage. Received an email from costa to the effect that damage was not covered under the "lifetime Warranty" and wanting my approval for a $70 repair before proceeding. At this point I did something I should have done before I bought the Costas. I checked the online reviews of Costa's Warranty service. Complaints out weigh the kudos about 10 to 1 and this is consistent going back a number of years. Called costa and was informed that the "hinge was broken and the frames (the bridge) were bent" which was not a warranty item and the new frames would cost $70. If the frames on the glasses I sent to costa were bent it was news to me. As I did not sent glasses with a bent frame. They did offer to knock off $20 and do the repairs for $50. I couldn't bring myself to do it, would rather toss them in the garbage and take a loss then deal with dishonorable business behavior and support that business with an additional sale. When a business's warranty practices shows an established pattern over time you would do well to do your homework and pay heed to what you find. There are a lot more people out there, myself included complaining about service under Costa's supposed lifetime Warranty than there are those who are applauding them. Where there is smoke there is not always fire, but that's the way to bet!Read more ›

I've had the Costa Del Mar Man-o-War 580 Tortoise Green Mirror for about a week now. I wanted to wait to write this review until I've had the chance to use them while driving, riding my bike and just everyday sunglasses.

I bought the Costa's to replace my Maui Jim 405-10 Makaha which broke after about 5 years. I have been a Maui Jim fan for years. I have light sensitive eyes and like the clarity and cripness of the colors from the Maui Jim's. I purchased the 409-10 Kanaha and the Costa's to try them both out.

I read other reviews that stated that the Costa's were uncomfertable and too heavy compared to the Maui Jim's, so I was skeptical, but wanted to try them anyway. I am glad I did!

The Costas are a little heavier than the Maui Jim's, but they make up for it in clarity and even better colors. The side shields are perfect for riding, while they are removable, I dont have a reason to remove them. The glasses are a little larger than the Maui Jim's but nothing that makes them look bad. The Costa's have a glass lense, which you can tell right away helps see clearer. I would still recommend Maui's, however for people with light sensitive eyes that wear contacts, go with these glasses! They look great, feel great and help you see great!

This review is for the Costa Del Mar Man-O'-War Tortoise Green Mirror sun glasses. I've had these for about a year and a half. I purchased these as a replacement for Maui Jim Rose Makaha shades. These Costa's are made for larger faces, but don't look huge on me. The 580 Glass lense is excellent, I've kept mine safe so far and no scratches, they stay in the car most of the time. Excellent for driving, cycling, and I also use them for sand volleyball, they do a great job of keeping the sand out of my eyes since they have the side shields. You can remove the side shields, but I haven't, there is no need to since it doesn't make the glasses look bad.

The green mirror looks really nice, these are some of the few lenses that I found that give you the green mirror look outside, but when you're wearing them, they have a rose tint like the Maui Jim's. These glasses are recommended for water use, mostly fishing, but they have worked great for what I wanted.

I would strongly recommend using a fine microfiber lense cleaning cloth on these. All in all, these are the best glasses I've had so far, I used ReVo for a while but prefer these glasses, they are lighter than the revos and better quality thn the Maui. The 580 Glass lenses are very clear, I compared to the Maui and I can definatly tell the difference, when you look through the Maui Plastic lenses, it looks like you're looking through a plastic bottle, with the Costa 580 lenses, everything is crystal clear and sharp, colors look better too.

I would recommend these glasses, if you are considering them over others, these are worth the price. I have had no warranty issues so can't tell you if Costa is good/bad at responding.

I purchased a pair of sunglasses 6 months ago that were an aviator style. the rubber on the sides peeled back and the nose piece fell apart. So I would like a solid frame at this point. Costa had me send them into their repair shop so they would be evaluated. they were supposed to call me and didn't so I called them. they refuse to give me a new frame unless I pay for it (because the $200 I already spent wasn't enough) plus the $11 they charge me to even send them in! I asked to speak to a manager who wouldn't even give me the time of day to get on the phone. thanks. so I asked them what happens if in 6 more months they fall apart again. and they tell me then they will fix them again!!!!! REALLY!!!!! so I will have to send in my sunglasses atleast 2x a year and I will have to pay everytime !!????
I WILL NEVER BUT COSTA AGAIN!
