Limited information, very poor navigation indications, lack of accurancy, in other words returning for a full refund. I ended up buying the map from trackit (amazon best reviews) and worked like a champ.

The SD card arrived promptly. I inserted it into my Garmin but the unit could not read the card. It was "unreadable". I called the Customer Service number and they were very sympathetic and they did refund me the cost of the card, but it still did not work as advertised.

I highly value having my Costa Rica gpstravelmaps map installed to my Garmin Nuvi 50. Before purchase, I valued seeing the tech support for this map on the web at gpstravelmaps.com. I purchased directly from that website in January 2013 and have since used my map on 4 extended visits. This Costa Rica gps map has helped me big time in the San Jose area where it is easy to get lost. One time, in a packed traffic jam with no obvious way out (dead end roads to side), my Costa Rica map v 5.7 showed me a short route back to a nearby highway with moving traffic that would have otherwise been a giant time consuming mystery. At that time, I thought the map paid for itself and more. This GPS map has worked for me on roads in boon dock areas too. I do not understand the negative reviews of gpstravelmaps. I suspect negative reviews may be connected to the competition. If you wonder about that, use the amazon option to see what else the negative reviewers have reviewed.

The downloaded version of gpstravelmaps are installed via Garmin's free BaseCamp software. You must be able to study and follow directions to install a GPS map your Garmin GPS. You then have to go into your GPS map settings and find where to uncheck your U.S. map, and then check the Costa Rica map before the map will function. GPStavelmaps.com offers tech support via email alongside the tech and install support information on their website. They also update their GPS maps and make them available.

Knowing a little about San Jose Costa Rica and how roads can change, I do not expect this GPS map to work smoothly in all situations for all neighborhoods. I do expect it to work smoothly for the highways and most neighborhoods as it has for me. I have been taken down some routes where a road has changed. You then have to apply human based strategy and that GPS map will still be very valuable. I seriously doubt any GPS map for the San Jose area is as fully updated as a Garmin updated map for the U.S.

The instructions stated, "Insert the card into your Garmin device". It does not work. I emailed the company and they sent me several sets of written instructions to use a computer to get it to work, but those did not work either. I had to rent a GPS in Costa Rica that cost me $120 during my trip. It was also a Garmin unit which worked fine. So I guess I am out that money plus the card cost of $70. I plan to try to return it.
