Recently I wrote an unfavourable review about the Track It GPS Locater.
Since that time I have contacted the company and an employee named Wirlan and he has been fantastic!
He phoned me a number of times to try and solve the problem and even sent a new micro card to see if the card was the problem.
Seems it is a problem with the older Garmin GPS.
Wirlan talked me thru the problem and set it up on my computer so that when I leave for Costa Rica it will be downloaded just before we go.
I was very happy with my service. I am waiting till just before we leave to see if it works. Fingers are crossed
They were great to work with

1.0 out of 5 stars Important, please read. February 4, 2014
By CarGo
If you are planning a trip to Costa Rica, please read.

1. Installation: fast and easy, insert in your GPS and it should work. There's no way to test it before actually arriving in Costa Rica so here's where the problem starts.

2. Coverage: Small towns coverage: Almost none. If you are going to San Jose only, these maps may do the job. If you are traveling to the REAL Costa Rica, look somewhere else. Dirt roads are not in the map, small towns may appear but not routable, no POI's in small towns either.

3. Alerts: There's a speed camera alert and tolls, these thing seems to be as outdated as possible. I saw with my own eyes at least 50% more speed trap cameras than what the map said. Totally unreliable.

4. Up to date: No, this maps are not up do date at all. I strongly believe this is a cheap copy of NavSat maps, but outdated. Stores with different names, pharmacies closed everywhere. Gas stations not located where the maps says, etc.

Bottom opinion: Get something else, these maps are unreliable. Requested the seller an update, no response. Maybe they are waiting NavSat or other maps to sell their old version so they can edit the name?? The maps packaging is not worth 69$, at all.

It's hard to imagine driving before GPS! This worked great for our 10 days driving around Costa Rica, though we did run into a couple of road closures on small back roads.

This really made my honeymoon a great trip. Instead of renting a GPS, we were able to buy one and get all around Costa Rica with no problem!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for position worthless for navigation May 20, 2013

We purchased this card for our anniversary vacation in Costa Rica. We found that although we did get the map of Costa Rica on our GPS, we didn't get any locations and could only use it for determining our current location, not for navigation. We still had to use a paper map and ask for directions along the way.

Plugged in the SD card into my Garmin and it fired right up and guided us around the Guanacoste region. Hotels, gas stations, and rental car location were all in the database. No hesitations in recommending this to anyone headed down to Costa Rica.

4.0 out of 5 stars Would have been lost without it - only lost once with it. February 22, 2014

Costa Rica is a fantastic country to visit and is famous for a lot of things but is NOT famous for helpful signage! This GPS was very useful. The night I arrived - on the typical late-arriving flight - I stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge, which is not far from the airport, but in my rental car I would have absolutely never found it without the GPS. It did get me a little off-track at one point - I would recommend having a map also. The other thing that threw me was that it pronounces the Spanish-language street names as if they were English-language words, so Avenida is not "ahvaneeda" but "avehnehda" and "Calle" is not "cayay" but "cahley". That makes it very confusing for anyone who knows a little Spanish, and for someone else who ues this to then ask for directions, they would get some very blank stares!

Smaller towns are unroutable, because none of them have their actual name in the system (e.g., couldn't find Jaco, Orosi, Tamarindo, La Fortuna). Same goes for POIs. Read more
