Astonishing sounds from the rainforests of Costa Rica, May 25, 2000

Although I've never been there, Costa Rica sounds like a place I'd love to be. Its rainforests, as portrayed on this disc, are full of loud, forceful animal sounds, from the barks and wails of howler monkeys to the rich songs of a variety of birds. Recordist Eloisa Matheu has captured a rich series of soundscapes which convey a sense of life bubbling like a rich stew in the tropical heat. I've decided that my favorite animal sound of the Costa Rican forest is one that appears on this disc mostly in the background, but which perfectly conveys the exotic atmosphere: the yelping cry of the Chestnut-Mandibled Toucan, like the sound of a forest spirit crying out from the next world to this one.

Great way to sit back and relax in memories, March 30, 2000

this cd is great ... it's realistic and a great way to relax in memories of your Costa Rica stay or get prepared before a trip (although is does sound a bit unrealistic if you don't know that it's really like this).
