Cottage Creations Wonderful Wallaby Pattern This is Cottage Creations' most popular pattern! This Wallaby Pattern has really achieved classic status and has a huge underground following! The hooded-or collared-and front pouch seamless sweater is knit from worsted weight yarn and circular needles. Size 2 to Super-size Adult. The Wallaby Pattern was Copyrighted in 1984 and is in its 15th printing! Here is a little note from one of our Wonderful Wallaby Pattern Fans Below: I have made your Wonderful Wallaby many times, in many sizes, from baby size 2 all the way up to super size. I have implemented, what I believe to be, a simpler way of attaching the pouch that I wanted to share. A few rounds after the ribbing I put the "to become pouch" stitches on a holder and case on a like number of stitches. I continue knitting in rounds using the "new" stitches until I reach the desired length. I then go back and pick up the "pouch" stitches from the holder and knit them (following the pouch instructions) until it is the same length as the body of the sweater and them fuse them. When the Wallaby is complete, I sew the bottom of the pouch to the inside. I also find it easier to knit the sleeves on straight needles and easier to attach a straight sleeve. Again, when finishing I sew the sleeve seams as I would on any ordinary sweater. I hope my variations of your Wonderful Wallaby instructions prove helpful to your knitters.

I have made many, many of these Wallaby sweaters. If you like to knit in the round and love the no-fuss of no seams to sew at the end, this is a fantastic sweater pattern. It's a classic, and it deserves the huge following it has. Have fun knitting it--these will become the favorite sweater for whoever is the recipient. You can also make is sans hood. Please note that there is NO DRAWSTRING to choke little ones.
