By FAR the best!,

As a native New Orleanian, I have always loved to cook. Most of the recipes I make are ones that have been passed on to me by friends from their families in the South. I received "Cotton Country" from a friend as a present and can honestly say that it is the best cookbook I know for those of us who love to cook recipes that are tried and true and really capture the way that great cooks in the South cook. The recipes are delicious, authentic and worth passing on. The very minute you get this cookbook, make the remoulade sauce, pour it over some boiled, peeled shrimp and imagine a Sunday afternoon at Galatoire's! Enjoy!

A favorite cookbook in my collection,

I purchased this book while living in Monroe back in 1973. My first cookbook and my most favorite kitchen companion. I have taken it with me to all the places we have lived the world round. I have to purchase a new edition since the first one is pretty worn out. However I plan to transfer all my notation to the new book and to the new ones I will purchase for the use of my four children.

I bought my first copy of this book back in the early 80s. I bought my second copy of this book about a year ago. This is a must have if you like community cookbooks. The books is laid our well, and has a great deal of recipes. Many recipes are cajun style that we would come to expect from Lousianna. The book also contains a great many of other great recipes that we would eat everyday. This is a book I turn to when I want to bring something extra special to a potluck.

I was first given this cookbook in 1980 as a wedding present. I was already familiar with this cookbook as my mom, grandmother, all my aunts and sisters-in-law had a copy as well. I was born and raised in West Monroe, La. - across the river from Monroe. This cookbook was amazing then and is still unchallenged. I have taken it all over the world including Israel. As it has fallen apart, I am ordering another one. This cookbook is excellent for new brides, as Christmas gifts or just to say thanks to a friend. Now, I live in NYC and still treasure this jewel of the Bayou!

The only cookbook I've ever worn out!,

I've had my Joy of Cooking since 1962 and it's well-used. I've been given Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, Southern Living Cookbook, many others over the years and they're all good sources. But my copy of Cotton Country Collection purchased about 1980 has been my all-purpose standby ever since. It fell completely apart four years ago and I still kept it in a plastic shoe box so I could refer to it often. Now the pages are dogeared and ruffled and stained so I plan to purchase a new copy and give the old one a well-deserved rest. It is my one indespensable kitchen secret. I can't praise this cookbook enough.

My husband and I bought this book in the French Quarter on our honeymoon in 1976, and in spite of the care I've taken to protect it, it is now in tatters from all the use. Every recipe I've tried is wonderful, and many are standard fare now. For example, the Dutch Baby is a Sunday morning favorite, and Lemon Loves always get gobbled up first when taken to a summer party.
The amazing ladies and gentlemen who submitted the recipes use real ingredients for authentic results, and I'm thankful for the chance to get a new copy of this Southern classic.

....you MUST have COTTON COUNTRY COLLECTIONS in your kitchen! These are the two most used cookbooks in my library. I have never had a recipe fail me lo these many years. I have given this as gifts for years as I'm getting ready to do right now through Amazon. Of course there are many "Southern" recipes in this wonderful cookbook, but I turn to it for all occasions. Many of the recipes offer suggestions for putting together a menu, which we can all appreciate! You'll find good basic recipes as well as special ones. And they are all so-o-o GOOD!

A real reference for Cajun and Southern cooking,

I collect cookbooks. Many of them sit on the shelf, and are used very rarely. However, this cookbook is in a very small minority of books that get used over and over again. I just bought my second copy, as the sprial binding finally gave out on my first copy. The only other cookbooks that I use as often as this one are Joy of Cooking and Fannie Farmer.
