4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Underscore for Bicultural Theme, March 4, 2000
This review is from: Cotton Mary (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
The music for "Cotton Mary" was composed by Richard Robbins, who has penned the scores of such renowned films as - Ballad of the Sad Cafe, Howards End, Remains of the Day, Europeans, Proprietor and Surviving Picasso. Robbins focused on the classical music of Southern India. Ismail Merchant (Director)introduced Robbins to revered Indian violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam who also contributed original music to the film's soundtrack. The close collaboration of both composers has created the perfect underscore for the film's bicultural theme. Every track is priceless with haunting, luscious and melancholy threads woven into an extraordinary score. This collection is an enjoyable listen from beginning to end and is not one to be passed by.

Total Time: 53:50 on 18 Tracks/ Milan Records - 73138 35895 2 (1999)
