4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but do not flush
These items are neat little towelettes with their own handy little plastic container, and come with an extra refill package. They are very handy, and work wonders for insuring cleanliness. Personally, I now consider them a necessary part of my toiletries!

3.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT use with old plumbing lines
Handy little things in general, however, after a $300 plumbing bill these will never be used in my house again. I have one of those adorable little Craftman bungalows...with adorable 70+ year old cast iron pipes. Only use these if you have PVC plumbing or they will clog up like you have never seen before. 4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but do not flush, October 2, 2006
This review is from: Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes, Refills, Case of 4/84s (336 ct) (Health and Beauty)
These items are neat little towelettes with their own handy little plastic container, and come with an extra refill package. They are very handy, and work wonders for insuring cleanliness. Personally, I now consider them a necessary part of my toiletries!

On the down side, flushing these things *can* result in plumbing problems, as I experienced. Apparently, if your sewer line is relatively new and clear, they should give you no problems. But, if your system has any place in it where things can collect, you will face problems. According to the plumber, toilet paper begins to break down quite quickly, but these towelettes can take over a month to do so.

So, overall, I do like this product, and I recommend it. I just recommend that if you live in an older house, that you do not flush them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I poop, I wipe, I clean! Great for fatties., May 22, 2011

Would you ever do a hard days work and try to clean yourself with a dry paper towel? Of course not. So why when it comes to toilet hygiene are we still using dry toilet tissue. I'm a big fat guy and often times taking a shower after pooping is just the easiest thing to do. But when I can't, I reach for a Cottenelle Fresh wipe. It keeps me bum clean and smelling fresh. The wipes are strong and my fingers don't break through to the fresh load on the other side. These things are fantastic. They are also great for a quick freshening of the naughty bits and those pesky fat guy crevices.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread!, September 28, 2008

First a little info on where I'm coming from in my review of this product: I am extremely fastidious about my personal hygiene. Mere toilet tissue does not cut it for me, and I used to try all kinds of ways of feeling fresh and clean after using the facilities, but nothing ever quite worked. Until I came across Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes.

Oh, Frabjous Day! I honestly cannot imagine life without them. They are largeand pleasingly moist, and do their job beautifully. I have tried other, cheaper wipes, only to find that when it comes to these wipes, you truly get what you pay for. Competing wipes were too small, not moist enough, and not as pleasant to use.

I'm a bit baffled by the claims of others that the wipes have clogged toilet lines. I lived in a seventy year old house for six years, and during that time, used these wipes on a daily basis. Usually several times a day. I encountered no clogging problems. I did occasionally have a wipe that didn't want to go down the tubes, but a second flush always worked. I also seldom sent more than 2 wipes down per flush.

I cannot do without these wipes, and now that Cottonelle makes them in individual packets that I can carry with me, I can take them with me throughout my day. As long as they keep making these wipes, Cottonelle will have a customer for life...me!

1.0 out of 5 stars Wet Wipe Horror, July 9, 2011

When I developed rectal incontinence, I used these wipes exclusively, then after a few months, the rectal areas were red, itching and burning like a bee sting. My doctors assumed it was caused by hemorrhoids, so I had several surgeries to remove the hemorrhoids. I continued to use the Cottonelle wet wipes, and found that I still had red, itching and burning skin all the time, it was so painful, it was hard to walk. My doctors told me that irritation was caused a fissure, and I needed surgery again. After the surgery healed, I went through several other medical tests and treatment to resolve the horrible skin problems and no matter what I tried nothing resolved it. Finally, after six years of fighting this problem, which literally disabled me from working outside my home, one specialist asked me what did I use to clean the area. When I told about the Cottonelle wipes, she immediately told me to stop using them and use the Balneol cream. Three weeks after I stopped using the Cottonelle wipes and started using on Balneol all the rectal inflammation stopped. These wipes are a wet wipe horror, the chemicals in them stay on top of the skin and begin to erode the top layers of skin, which opens the skin to all the germs coming from the fecal material. Nothing will resolve the inflammation except to discontinue using them around the anal and vaginal areas. So if you have sensitive skin, then don't buy these wipes ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just right and flushable, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes, Refills, Case of 4/84s (336 ct) (Health and Beauty)
Much better than just paper, especially if you have any "complications".

These are by far the best I've tried. They are not too thick or too thin and they retain the right amount of moisture for almost the entire tub. I usually add a tiny amount of water when it gets down to the last 10% or so.

The dispenser works better than most. The button that opens the lid can get stuck down, especially on the refills. It's easy to open the lid and pop it back up, but slightly inconvenient. The towelettes come up at a time until the last 3-4. Then I sometimes get more than one.

I have had no flushing problems at all, which I did with some other brands.

08/20/10 Update: I recently bought a package of Charmin Freshmates (See: Charmin Freshmates 3-Count Refill Pack, 120 Wipes Total (Pack of 8)[Certified Frustration-Free Packaging]). The Cottonelles are much better. The Charmin has a large rectangular opening for a pop-up dispenser. Not only does it not work as well as the Cottonelles, but it allows the towelettes to dry out faster. Also, the Cottonelle dispenses is more attractive.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT flush these wipes, June 13, 2008
This review is from: Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes, Refills, Case of 4/84s (336 ct) (Health and Beauty)
My tenant used "flushable" wipes and clogged my sewer line. Her toilet backed up and flooded the bathroom. It cost me a lot of money to get the line cleared.

Sure, they'll flush, but they can cause expensive problems.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but I have to agree DO NOT FLUSH!!!!, December 16, 2011
This review is from: Cottonelle Fresh Flushable Wipes, Refills, Case of 4/84s (336 ct) (Health and Beauty)
I have to admit, I loved these wipes especially for my kids....UNTIL I needed to call a 24 hour plumber for emergency sewer surgery!! After finding a lovely waterfall into my basement with every flush, the plumber arrived to tell us that the flushable wipes had created a clog in the piping. We too have older piping that is not the new PVC stuff, so I DEFINITELY AGREE, DO NOT FLUSH THESE UNLESS YOU HAVE NEW PVC PIPING AS YOUR SEWER LINES!! Not just in the basement, because that is what we have. Just sharing my $200 (2 cents).
