5.0 out of 5 stars Nice clubs
OK, I should first say that I'm not a great golfer. I started playing a few weeks ago, and bought these online because they looked like a great deal. A customer of mine invited me out to a golf outting, and the club rental fee on the course was more than I wanted to pay, and being that I'd most likely be doing this again (it's not really about the game, is it now?) 3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.
These are good beginner clubs as they are very inexpensive. The irons and putter are very sturdy and nice. The Woods are not very forgiving in their sweetspot and the hybrid is a piece of doody. DO NOT Mis-hit with the Hibrid or the head will go further than the ball.

Again, good for beginners but dont expect them to last long.

OK, I should first say that I'm not a great golfer. I started playing a few weeks ago, and bought these online because they looked like a great deal. A customer of mine invited me out to a golf outting, and the club rental fee on the course was more than I wanted to pay, and being that I'd most likely be doing this again (it's not really about the game, is it now?) I figured these would pay for themselves in 2 or 3 outtings.

I'm not a great golfer, I don't know much about clubs. But, these seemed to swing ok, my buddies were kind of impressed considering what I paid, and I didn't do too badly. Nothing came broken, nothing broke on the course, the drivers had decent range, the irons did they're job. If you're tall like I am, you'll find the irons a little short and will need to get the grips extended. I'm 6' 4". I'll keep these until my game deems me worthy of something nicer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good quality for a very good price, March 20, 2007
This review is from: Cougar Tour Cat Pro 17-Piece Men's Golf Set (Right-Handed) (Sports)
Got them last week and have played 3 games and been to the driving range for a total of 6 hours. No problems with them at all, they feel great and play well. I put them through a few very rough swings to the ground and no bends or breaks. VERY solid. Great clubs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Irons snap at the hosel - don't buy!, March 3, 2009
By
This review is from: Cougar Tour Cat Pro 17-Piece Men's Golf Set (Right-Handed) (Sports)
Three times, three clean hits in the middle of the fairway, and three broken irons. They snap clean through the hosel and cannot be repaired. Other than the fact that they seem to break for no apparent reason, they play well...

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent clubs for an excellent price, March 3, 2008
This review is from: Cougar Tour Cat Pro 17-Piece Men's Golf Set (Right-Handed) (Sports)
I've owned these clubs for almost exactly a year, and in that time I've taken them out to the greens about 8 times, and to the driving range about two dozen.

The irons are excellent. The tour cat pro's come with a 3 hyrbid, and irons 4-pw, which is basically the full set. It's hard to find a full and complete set at this price, and you'll get much props from your friends when you show up ready to play with all the right clubs, and not some starter kit that only gives you the 6-pw irons. These are durable, and will knock the ball far and accurately, if hit properly. A friend of mine was telling me Cougar tends to model their clubs after existing models by Calloway and Ping, and after seeing the real originals up close, I'm a believer. The part i love about these irons is that the club head has a fairly small cavity and not too much of an offset, which makes you look like less of a beginner on the course, and you'll get props for not chickening out and getting the easier to hit "baby" clubs.

I really like the putter. I like the look of a mallet or 3-ball better, but this blade putter has been working just fine for me (I've sunk balls from 30ft+ out before), so I'm sticking with it. Just wish it had a putter cover, becuase mine tends to get bumped around a bit by my irons.

The Woods are great too. The graphite shafts feel of high quailty, and I havn't had a problem with them at all. Glad they come with head covers, although I would have rather preferred the zipper style covers, instaed of the pull over covers. I'm still horrible with my woods, but I have a feeling thats more of a user error then product error.

The bag is very nice as well. Very durable, and the stand machanism is solid. And unlike some chaper models, it comes with a dual strap system. The only complaint I have with the bag is that it could use one or two more pockets, and one of the nylon chords on the dual strap system has come loose once or twice on the course. I just had to re-thread it through the loop, but it's still an inconvience. I just ordered a Calloway Warbird XTT bag to replace my Cougar bag, but not becuase it was broken or weak, just becuase the Calloway looks much cooler. :)

The only complaint I have wit this set (and the only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars) was becuase the 3 Hybrid was a piece of...well, you know. It broke on me while on the course once (literally, the head flew farther then the ball), and although customer service sent me a replacement (after a long wait, and having to get on their case once or twice on the phone), the replacement 3 hyrbid broke just as quickly, and in the same exact spot. There is a flaw with the club, and it keeps breaking at the same point on the head.

Aside from a crappy 3 hybrid, this is an excellent product at an excellent price. The guys I play with have wilson's, calloway's, mizzuno's, and ping's, but considering my product is not too much inferior to theirs, and was roughtly 1/5 the price, I'm very happy with my cougars. I believe I got these on amazon.com closeout for about $[...] last year, which I still think is a steal. My friends who play with blades give me the nod, becuase while I'm still a novice in their eyes, I'm using a club with shallow cavities and a small offset, which makes it harder to hit, and therefore makes the game more reliant on my own skill, and not the forgiveness of my club. The clubs and bag have overall been durable and trouble free, and I really couldn't be happier. My next set will probably be a set of dunlops or wilson's in the $[...] range. But that is still a year or so away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Clubs!, June 10, 2007
This review is from: Cougar Tour Cat Pro 17-Piece Men's Golf Set (Right-Handed) (Sports)
I'm new to golf and this set was the most inexpensive set I could find. Another store had a smaller set containing of 12 or 13 pieces for more. They are called TOUR Cat for a reason. These clubs are awesome, super nice, and inexpensive. The bag is great and the pockets are big. The stand is very handy. These aren't a cheap set of clubs by far. The 1 Wood will CRUSH a ball. The hybrid is nice. Very happy that I bought them. The bad reviews worried me a little bit, but everything is going to have a bad review. EXCELLENT BUY!!!! I just don't see how can they sell these for so little.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item! Recomended, June 1, 2007
This review is from: Cougar Tour Cat Pro 17-Piece Men's Golf Set (Right-Handed) (Sports)
The clubs are very inexpensive and are great quality. I purchased a set of Dunlop clubs and also these Cougars. With the Cougars I drive farther and my short game is also better. The only thing I did not like was the bag, but for the price you can afford to buy another bag.

2.0 out of 5 stars Low price because of low quality, May 12, 2007

I am new golfer and don't know what kind of clubs I should use. So I bought this complete set in Amazon. Lowest price I can find. The clubs looks good when it came. But I have already broken 7 and 8 iron in driving range practice. They broke at the same position of club head. So I think the material of the club head doesn't qualify the club head requirement.

Bottom line is, it's really cheap. The bag is OK. The putter won't be broken. For the rest, at least I got a trial on all the clubs.

My conclusion is this set of the clubs can be a candidate for first club set to get some experience on golf club but not qualified to play golf.
