easy install was expected and happened.

this thing is the smoothest quietest fan I have used.

it is on an open bench platform so nothing to stop it from being loud...
it is just quiet.

time will tell if the bearing system is really superior
but if the quiet operation is any indicator I will stick with
fluid dynamic bearings (also known as hydro dynamic bearings)

pros: quiet, easy install

cons: wrong color for Texas A&M

adios,

I was quite weary trying out a new set of fans, but I had heard good things about Cougar fans.

First, the color not your typical “black” case fans, they’re bright orange. Some people might not like that, but seeing as how my case had no window, I won’t have to see it.

The fan is very quiet and pushes quite a lot of air. I’m using two in push/pull on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and temps are great while keeping noise to a minimum. The braided cable is a nice feature as well, giving it a premium feel.

I’ve since ordered two more to use on an Antec 620 because they have pretty good static pressure for use on radiators as well. While these aren’t the best I’ve used, they’re quite a deal when you compare the price for performance and noise.

I purchased these for use with a H100 cooler in a push/pull configuration. Very quiet fans given the low RPM's needed for the H100. Even when set on max speed they don't whine like other fans do. The silicone pads on the mounting points provide a nice touch and prevent vibration well. For reasons I just cannot explain the orange color really looks good in a black case. I highly recommend them for your next build.

I've always used cheap Coolermaster or Apevia fans for my PC. I always wondered what the big deal was with expensive "premium" fans. They're just spinning blades that moved air, why did I need to pay $15 for something I could easily get for $3-5? I'm glad I was wrong. I had an opportunity to purchase two of these on sale for $10 and $11. I definitely see how they are premium. They move a lot more air on my generic Coolermaster 120mm fans. I just held a piece of white paper behind each fan while they were on at 12v rails and watched how much the paper bent due to air pressure. The Cougar fans did a much better job of moving air. At full speed, they were also more quiet. They were not completely silent mind you, but certainly better than my cheapo fans. When my PC was on and no heavy loads on the processor or video card, these were absolutely silent running at 40% speed. They only became audible when the PC was under heavy load and extra air flow was needed. My motherboard monitor shows the fans maxed out at 1500 rpms whereas my Coolermaster fans maxed out at around 1100 rpms. You get 50% more spins and airflow with less noise, a win-win scenario!

Furthermore, I like the rubber padded feet at the screwholes. Where the fan meets the case the orange pads protrude out a bit and provide anti vibration padding. Cougar also provides 4 rubber rivets that you can use instead of standard screws. These are great as they dampen vibration further. I had trouble installing them as they were very snug (a good thing), and wouldn't fit in the holes. I just swabbed the screws with some olive oil and pushed and pulled hard. Luckily the rivets stood up to my abuse, which means they will last in my case as well.

Overall, these are great fans, I would buy them again. However I would NOT buy them full price as fans should be $17. If you can find them on sale for under $10, then yes these are a must have!

This fan is the only fan I put in my primary PC (3x120mm and 1x140mm). I use two on my CPU cooler in a push/pull configuration, one as rear exhaust, and the 140mm as front intake.
The fans have many features that are designed to make them quiet, and while they are not silent, they certainly don't make a lot of noise; mostly just the sound of the air passing through the CPU cooler.
I chose these because they are PWM fans (4-pin headers), they com with adapters to allow you to connect them to a standard MOLEX cable, but the fans will run at max speed that way; they have good airflow at a reasonable noise level; and they have a 300K Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rating. I also liked the color, as my motherboard is orange on black in a black case, but that wasn't a big factor in my decision.

I would recommend these fans to anyone looking for a flashy (but not LED) fan that moves air while staying reasonably quiet.

I bought my first set of these about 2 years ago. Those fans are still running today, though the fans themselves are a little lighter in colour than the new fans that i purchased, this while not expected makes sense and is not a con. The old fans still hold their own after being disassembled 10+ times for cleaning. The old fans still spin to about 1400 rpm which is expected based on the age. This time around i bought three more to complement the first two. The fans work great for me. I have three of them in a pull config on a 360 radiator and they are quiet. I've had the older fans in all sorts of orientations horizontal, vertical, diagonal(taped to a chipset passive radiator) and have never had a problem with extra noise of any kind, not saying it doesn't exist but that I've not experienced the problem. Im looking to replace some 140mm fractals fans that are white and cougar is the first place im looking.
