3.0 out of 5 stars Metro Mix was a mistake, August 26, 2000

This is a good song - it really is. Diane Warren's perceptive, sublime lyrics are perfect fodder for any slushy duet for popular vocalists to try. This song originally appeared on Enrique's own 1999 Interscope Records album and surprised many people ! It was a unique pairing, vocally, that didn't disappoint the listener and the recording was beneficial for both of them, however, then Whitney brought out her "Greatest Hits" double album in 2000..... On Whitney's album, a mix called the "Metro Mix" was used. It infused the song with unnecessary dance beats, but the worst thing of all was that it lowered the volume of Enrique's vocal parts, resulting in Whitney's vocal's sounding out-of-balance and dominant on the song, rather than the balance + harmony of the voices that it was supposed to be. For some insane reason, this "Metro Mix" was the version that was decided to be used as the single in the U.S. and later in the U.K. - It was a mistake to use the "Metro Mix" of "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" = the original version from Enrique's album (Latin guitars and all...! AND ESPECIALLY Enrique's vocals being the SAME volume as Whitney's own !) should've been the version to have released as a single, but now Whitney's star will NOT shine bright with the "Metro Mix" version of the song. A missed opportunity. This single is only worth buying if you are an ardent supporter of either artist and are willing to buy a "reasonable song".
