Although Johnson's style is slightly self-conscious, his quirky and humorous observations about life will, nonetheless, strike a positive chord among readers. Johnson does not preach to teens or try to pressure them to convert; he offers simple insights and straightforward, unpatronizing advice about living wisely. The unifying theme of each reading is God's loving nature and enduring presence, with Johnson supplying a Bible verse and a corresponding question to ponder.
