From Publishers Weekly

When cousins Gracie, Charlie and Ed die are invited to fly to San Francisco to visit their Aunt Molly, Gracie's mother decides they may go, musing "What could go wrong?" If only she had known about the man in the Ha waiian shirt carrying a newspaper with a mysterious code written on it. Or about the bomb threat that forces the plane to make an unscheduled landing in Portland. Or about the strange disappearance of Mrs. Basker, a kind, old lady who befriends the children on the airplane. Since it is her first plane trip, Gracie wonders if her imagination is teasing her; then she realizes that she and her cousins are inadvertently involved in an excit ing, frightening adventure. Lively prose and strong characterizations make an ordinary event--a first plane ride--into an extraordinary backdrop for a mystery. Roberts's clever plot enhances the suspenseful and unex pectedly humorous story. Ages 8-12.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Book, December 8, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: What Could Go Wrong? (Paperback)
This book will take you to an airport and change your idea of a airports forever. Willo Davis Roberts brilliantly brings the characters to life. The book sounds like it was written by a monkey. The plot is slow with not a lot of power. The plot has nothing but the characters are great.

The plot is a no show. The kids first must convince there parents that they can go to San Francisco alone! On there way they meet a old lady. This old lady wants a news paper. The kids take some old paper. On the plane an old man keeps going to the bath room on his way he keeps trying to take the old ladies purse. They have to land in portland because of a bomb threat . After wards the main characters are focused on finding out why they made another stop. The old lady gets mugged. They finally get to San Francisco. The crooks get caught and they get to go to there aunts.
