This volume combines translations of th of the most colorful and detailed contemporary accounts of the Council (the German, the French and the Papal). These are preceded by two background essays on the council of constance. The Council of Constance met from 1414 to 1418, one of the most memorable gathering of the clergy in the history of the Medieval Church. Three were claiming to be the Pope, and the council unified the Church by deposing all of them and electing Martin V.
