Book Description

February 29, 1988
Dr. Diane Langberg, a licensed psychologist, offers sympathetic and realistic answers to fourteen questions from pastors' wives, questions that are often asked. In answering the questions Dr. Langberg addresses not only the particular women who asked them, but also those who are looking in over the shoulders of these women. Some of the answers are simpler than others. All of the answers require acts of faith, renewed patience, and wisdom that must come from God. With these divine resources come healing and possible solutions. Counsel for Pastors' Wives is a good prescription for people who want to be helped and healed and for people who want to help the healing. It is not merely for pastor's wives, it is for concerned laypeople as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding, positive support for pastors' wives, April 26, 2008

This review is from: Counsel for Pastors' Wives (Paperback)
Having been a pastor's wife for almost 40 years, I know the tensions involved in this field of work. I appreciated the author's references to Scripture, her understanding for the situations that arise, and her practical and loving ways to deal with the problems. This would be a good gift for someone you know who is a pastor's wife.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Edition Review (not content), July 15, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is formatted so that each chapter title asks a question (i.e. "Why do Women in the Church Keep Their Distance From Me?"). The chapter then opens with a letter that the author has received from a pastor's wife (the crux of which is summed up by the chapter title); Diane's response follows.

I was really confused reading Chapter 1 because the letter (from a wife concerned for her husband's drinking habits) seemed unrelated to the chapter title ("Can My Husband and I Survive the Pastorate?") and the author's response. It wasn't until Chapter 11 ("How Should I Respond to a Husband Who Does Not Practice What He Preaches?") that I realized the letters for Chapters 1 and 11 had been reversed. That is a glaring oversight in my book and shows an extreme lack of quality control. I expect the same editorial quality from Kindle books as I do from print editions--especially since the Kindle edition was only a few dimes cheaper. Very disappointed.
