I would recommend purchasing this book early into your program of studies. I bought mine late into my second year of grad school in order to assist in preparation for the NCE and found it would have been more useful if purchased in undergrad or before starting my master's program. Many of the terms include the theorists they are associated with, and some even refer to specific agencies and/or websites to contact for more related info. You will also find a few diagrams explaining items such as; graphs, genograms, sociograms, etc. This book doesn't go in great depth with most items but serves as a very practical foundation on which to build.

I bought this book my first semester of my counseling program. I used it everytime i couldn't understand a new term spoken of in one of my counseling textbooks. If the definition was there it defenitley clears up any confusion. The problem however is that the definition is only there about 60% of the time. Overall, i recommend it! It still helped many and continues to do so.

The book was in perfect condition, the price was unbeatable, and was shipped within a day or two from time of order!

I have found The Counseling Dictionary to be very useful on several occasions. Even though a few words I was looking for weren't found, I would still recommend the book to any counseling student/professional. It gives you a nice concise place to find most counseling terms.
