Counseling and Therapy for Couples,
By Ellamill "MFT Intern/Mediator" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Counseling and Therapy for Couples (Paperback)
This was an excellent book! It was a required reading for my Relationship Therapy class. This book contains and breaks down a lot of theories and who and what they are used on/for. I wish I had used this book for my theories class, it would have simplified a lot of things for me.

Great text as far as readability and examples, however, I think I would have gotten more from it had it been a little heavier on applications/interventions. It was a very brief and basic overview of couples counseling, left me wanting a little more.

This is a good book if you want an overview of couples' therapies.I got it for a class and found that I was reading through it before I was even assigned to read it. It's easy to read and applicable, especially if you're a beginning therapist/therapist in training. The overviews of the various types of therapy are pretty brief, but it's nice to get a summary so that you can see if a certain type of therapy speaks to you, then you can go and read more in depth about it. It also covers assessment, goal setting, treatment, etc. |
