5.0 out of 5 stars Not what you eat, but why you eat, February 16, 2002

I have not only been fortunate enough to read Dolly's book, but I have the pleasure of hearing Dolly speak. This book is a godsend that helps you understand that diets don't work, but losing weight and keeping it off is a slow painful process that requires you to look at why you overeat. Putting an eating plan in place is only as good as addressing why you can't stop putting food into your mouth.

Dolly is great, the book is great and I highly recommend it. I have lost 7 pounds in 3 months, it is painful for me, a results person, to go this slow. However, my goal this time is to not gain the weight back, not just lose it. Counting those "lost" days when the food gets away as a "vegetable" allows for getting back on track immediately. It also address the feelings that may never go away around food, I have learned that the only thing that is cured is a HAM!

Looking at the cold hard facts about why we are overweight allows for changes to occur, this book could be the tool that helps you get there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and intuitive reading!!, April 30, 2002

This review is from: Count It as A Vegetable ... and Move On (Paperback)
This book was easy to read, but very thought provoking. I have actually had the pleasure of hearing Dolly speak weekly, and reading her book has been quite an adventure. She invokes a lot of thought and insight into eating issues, but also life stresses and how we deal with them. I have used her insight way beyond controlling my weight - and put them into controlling my life. Dolly shows in this book that she had to face and conquer the same issues we all do, she's very open and honest about her life and her sharing is very open. I also liked Lynne's holistic approach and find that it's really important to find the balance that works for you as an individual.

5.0 out of 5 stars A down to earth conversation with two people that care....., January 17, 2002

An odd title I thought, but as I read chapter by chapter I realized this "concept" was something I could benefit from everyday. The book radiated a certain kindness that I have never received from any book before. A quick read and a personable touch....I would gladly recommend it to anyone who needed reinforcement to what we may already know but forget to apply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't have said it better myself...., September 25, 2002

I am a Weight Watcher leader and this book says it all. I really enjoyed the humor in it and loved how honest it was. These women really know what they are talking about. If people would figure out why they are eating they would stop all these crazy fade diets and become healthy both mentally and physically. I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who has tried to lose weight whether it be 10 lbs or 100lbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life Changing Words, September 15, 2002
This review is from: Count It as A Vegetable ... and Move On (Paperback)
This book went way beyond helping me with eating issues. "Count it as a Vegetable" is just one of the many principles of living that I am using in many areas of my life. This book was fun to read because of all the anecdotes and humor. I have a much more compassionate view of myself because of this book!
