The killers in this Scottish police procedural are real enough. What is counterfeit are the shoddy copies of designer clothes being distributed throughout Britain and the Continent. Detective Superintendent Colin Thane of the Scottish Crime Squad is assigned the task of stopping the fraudulant manufacturers, known as the Cutters. (It isn't only fabric they cut.) Reader James Bryce's expertise is apparent in his ability to make the different police officers and suspects all readily identifiable.
