Book Description

The explosive new thriller from Oliver North, who stormed bestseller lists nationwide with his disarmingly authentic military novel Heroes Proved, is a gripping, non-stop tale that could only be written by someone who has "been there, done that."

Veteran undercover FBI agent Jake Kruse is investigating a smuggling ring in southern California when his assignment is cut short. A prominent criminal defense attorney wants to hire Jake on another kind of mission: to kill the daughter of a local crime boss.

What began as a "contract killing" soon captures the attention of the CIA, the U.S. Secret Service, and high-level officials in Washington. The undercover agent is plunged into a deadly underworld of North Korean espionage, Hezbollah terror and the sinister deception Iran uses to acquire nuclear weapons. Caught in a web of international intrigue that goes to the top of the U.S. government, Kruse is forced to confront the ultimate moral quandary: doing what’s right when everything seems wrong.

His New York Times bestseller Heroes Proved was praised by Sean Hannity as "a heart-thumping ‘must-read’ for every American" and as "inspiring truth in the form of a novel" by U.S. Army Lieutenant General William "Jerry" Boykin, a founding member of Delta Force.

Now, national security expert and decorated war hero Oliver North and former U.S. Marine and FBI undercover agent Bob Hamer bring their real-life experience to this pulse-pounding tale of international intrigue and down-to-the-wire suspense. They say it’s fiction. But it’s all too real.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Counterfeit Lies is a must read...an eye opener.  Although it is written as fiction...the plot is all too real. This novel is a riveting and gripping tale." (Blackfive.net review)

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Elucidating June 14, 2014

Oliver North and Bob Hamer team up on fiction for the first time and right out of the gate they've delivered a blockbuster! These two men bring their experience and lucid view of the world to bear on a story that pulls the wraps off international crime. It also shines klieg lights on the enemies of America and their lust for our destruction. The high-speed plot and excellent writing will allow interest in little else once you've turned the first page. You will want all your friends and family in on this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Counterfeit Lies June 13, 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
What a great read. Fast pace, good character build up and Col. North does have a way with words....."I also know the difference between a real leader and a politically motivated, butt kissing, flagpole hugging bureaucrat." The best quote "Since 9/11, government officials at all levels have gone out of their way to appear tolerant, inclusive and accommodating. Politicians obscured the origins of violence, twisting uncomfortably in public hearings and refusing to attribute terrorist acts to any one belief system....America's tolerance and self imposed social engineering fueled the cause of those at the mosque". North doesn't mince words and tells it exactly as American's-real Americans believe. Being politically correct is making America weak.

Received book from Amazon today, had enough time to drive to Knoxville for Col. North's book signing and finished it by midnight. Could not put it down. The character Jake Kruse grabbed me from the interview with the psychologist to the griping end. North and Hamer make a good combo on storyline and writing style again. I hope they continue with more adventures of Jake Kruse.

(Since it has been a couple of years since the last Peter Newman book, I had to go back and reread books one to four! Well worth it. )

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes you think! June 16, 2014
Format:Hardcover
Very well written. It's non-stop action the entire way through. I have a feeling that these stories are more true than fiction, so very detailed, the imagery is great, and it really makes the reader think about what is really going on, in this county, and the hard work our agencies do to keep these plots at bay. Oliver North and Bob Hamer really brought this to life. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars More Jake Kruse June 13, 2014
By x5oh
Format:Hardcover
I heard Colonel North speak at the book launch of COUNTERFEIT LIES. I bought a signed copy and couldn't wait to read it. I wasn't disappointed. This is a fascinating piece of fiction that I'm sure is pretty close to reality.Truth is stranger than fiction but sometimes for people who have signed non-disclosure agreements, fiction is a great way to convey the truth. I love the Jake Kruse character. I hope their are more books in the works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another thriller by Oliver North! June 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is another edge of your seat thriller. I have enjoyed several of his military thriller novels. This one was different, about an undercover agent in LA's underworld of counterfeit goods and drugs. I normally would not have bought this because of the subject matter, but I did really enjoy it. Graphic in places, but handled well. Fast-paced, seems true-to-life like his other books!

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING! June 13, 2014
Format:Hardcover
I have read all of Oliver North's books and as to his fiction, this is by far my favorite. Jake Kruse is my type of hero. Neither the Colonel's fiction nor his characters are over the top, like so many stories and protagonists in this genre. Jake Kruse isn't perfect. He struggles with some of the same issues we all face and that makes him real. In fact, this entire book reads "all too real." I question how much truth is hidden between the lines. There was an air of autheticity in each scene and I felt like I was undercover with Jake in his operation. Once I began reading it was hard to put down. I thouroughly enjoyed the read. Thanks for a great adventure, Colonel. Please give us more Jake Kruse.

North and Hamer have done it again! The real life exploits and adventures these two have experienced are breath-taking. Their crisp writing style prevents any lag in the reading. There are enough details to tell you they've been there/ done that. Going to the pool? Take this book. I never made it that far. Outstanding, gentlemen. May I have another please.
