As an educator who strives to find direction on how to break the negative experience in pre K-12 education for a high number of Black male youth, I find this book, along with the other two in the series, to be informative and innovative when it comes to establishing a marker for administrators to use in order to monitor the teacher-student relationship and provide the positive environment that is necessary for all students, especially the Black male youth, to succeed.

Juwanza Kunjufu is a reknown author so this was appealing from the beginning. I must find the words to describe the gratitude for him writing such a book. There are so many young men of color who grew up fatherless or motherless and here is a book that took the sting out of this reality.I am a father and a son so I appreciated what I learned about raising children of color not just in America but around the world. The book also helped me see my childhood and unravel why people judge and how they feel toward you based on appearance.

This book should be read side-by-side with Psychiatry: The Ultimate Betrayal by Bruce Wiseman. Then you'll have a better idea of the "Why."

I love the theory in the book. As a society we are all responsible for our children. I appreciate him writing about this subject.
