I love the illustrations, and my children and my kindergarteners LOVE to find the cockatoos on each page. (I teach kindergarten) I highly recommend this book and I prefer it to Count!...its much more interactive.

This review is from: Counting Cockatoos (Board book)
I purchased this book from a recommendation from my Kindergartner's homework, however my 3 year old got to it first. He has so much fun finding the Cockatoos and it is helping him with his numbers. Being a board book I'm sure it'll last a while. Great Book! Great Buy!!!

This review is from: Counting Cockatoos (Hardcover)
This book is a favorite of our family. Our 5 year old son has had it for a few years now, and even though he mastered counting long ago, the illustrations are colorful and fun. We never get tired of looking for those cockatoos!

My daughter LOVES THIS BOOK!! She loves saying "and 2 talk-a-toos" (cockatoos)... another book we read ALL the time and i really believe it has helped with her numbers and number recognition. Pictures are colorful and enjoyable. another book that is hard to get tired of. I generally read the 1 enourmous elephant and my daughter reads the "and 2 talk-a-toos" (cockatoos) part. Get the book and you'll see what i mean. Great for any 1.5+ year old.

Counting Cockatoos is a real gem!,

Bright bold colors, adorable animals and a repetitive text will entice young children to read this book over and over. Along with the cheerful illustrations, the hidden cockatoos make this book stand out among counting books. Children enjoy finding hidden pictures in any storybook and the slightly camouflaged cockatoos in this story add to the enjoyment of this book. As a teacher, I am always looking for books that young children can retell, books that reinforce basic concepts, and books that can be used to inspire children to create their own stories. This is one of those books. More important, however, than its usefulness to promote learning, it is a delightful book, full of wonderfully appealing illustrations. It's the kind of book I want to give as a gift, to be enjoyed over and over.
