5.0 out of 5 stars Not really metalcore
Embrace The End blew me away. Featuring members of Killing The Dream and First Blood (Deathwish Inc. bands), Embrace The End sounds nothing like you'd expect them to given the traditional hardcore sound of the aformentioned bands, but this album falls somewhere in between Despised Icon, Animosity, The Taste Of Blood, and Through The Eyes Of The Dead. It doesn't really...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, But Not Good Enough
Review by Mike Watson:

Coming to us from the metalcore mecca of California is one of the better bands in the genre, Embrace The End. ETE step fourth with not a whole lot originality, but that's not to say it isn't good. Most of Counting Hallways to the Left is pretty typical aggressive metalcore, the one thing it lacks is the over abundance of the almighty...

5.0 out of 5 stars Not really metalcore, October 15, 2005
This review is from: Counting Hallways to the Left (Audio CD)
Embrace The End blew me away. Featuring members of Killing The Dream and First Blood (Deathwish Inc. bands), Embrace The End sounds nothing like you'd expect them to given the traditional hardcore sound of the aformentioned bands, but this album falls somewhere in between Despised Icon, Animosity, The Taste Of Blood, and Through The Eyes Of The Dead. It doesn't really feel like a metalcore record at all, with the exception of the breakdowns. Everything else feels very tech/grind with a hint of melody thrown in for good measure. The drumming is absolutely phenomenonal, so much so in fact that this was really the first time I've been impressed with drum work since hearing Brann Dailor of Mastodon. The guitar work flys at a 100 MPH with lots of intricate riffs...sometimes technical, sometimes melodic, but never boring. There are a few generic breakdowns thrown in and it's really the closest this record ever comes to sounding like metalcore, in my opinion. Vocally, the album is pretty impressive. No clean vocals here kiddies, sorry. Lots of screeches, growls, and gutterals. Overall, a very good record and definetly a worthy purchase. And if you haven't heard Killing The Dream, be sure to check them out as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Embrace this album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, June 28, 2005
This review is from: Counting Hallways to the Left (Audio CD)
fast technical guitars, chug guitars, melodic guitaring, raw high scream with low grawls in places that fit perfectly and precision drums that are catchy as hell. two singers have never sounded so good in metal grindcore band, this band is a jem to be found by those who love brutal metal with great grove, rthym and handfulls of breakdowns. for fans of, Summers End, Through the Eyes of The Dead, Darkest Hour, The Taste of Blood

THIS IS A MUST HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING as it should be, April 6, 2006
This review is from: Counting Hallways to the Left (Audio CD)
Embrace The End, featuring members of Killing The Dream, First Blood, and Sworn vengeance, fuse together Metal, hardcore, grind and thrash with seamless beauty. The result of the efforts put forth are incredible. I would point out a stand out track, but there are not any that would not make the list.

Coming to us from the metalcore mecca of California is one of the better bands in the genre, Embrace The End. ETE step fourth with not a whole lot originality, but that's not to say it isn't good. Most of Counting Hallways to the Left is pretty typical aggressive metalcore, the one thing it lacks is the over abundance of the almighty chug breakdown (thankfully). Embrace the End is an incredibly talented band, infusing a lot of great metal and melodic riffs into their songs to make them interesting. However, the truth is it's nothing new or different. If metalcore is your genre of choice, Embrace The End is the new band of 2005 to check out because they are destined for great things, but if you are looking for something brand new and groundbreaking you may want to hold out a little longer.
