About the Author

The quintessential self made man, Blake Karrington realized at a young age that he was responsible for his own success, actively applying the mantra money is power. Early on Blake exhibited the entrepreneurial spirit, starting his first business selling Kool-Aid at the age of nine. This was Blake's first taste of success, but not his last. After many years of being on the retail side of the book industry, after a meeting and talking with author Shannon Holmes, Blake decided to become a publisher. With the first novel that he published, 'Little Ghetto Girl', Blake achieved unprecedented success. The novel caught the eye of publishing giant Simon & Schuster, which later bought the rights to the novel. After that he published other titles as well with limited success. Blake witnessed firsthand the trial and tribulations of the publishing industry. Dissatisfied with the many authors lackadaisical attitude, Blake decided to try his hand at writing a novel. He figured he was just as qualified as another author in the urban genre, to write a novel. After all he lived the street life. Once again, he sought out longtime friend and confidant, renowned urban writer Shannon Holmes, for advice. Under his tutelage Blake began to secretly craft his own novel. After nine months of hard work, Blake has finally achieved what he set out to do, craft a first-rate novel. Intending to set the world on it's ear, Blake is planning on show the world just how far, one can go with a hustler mentality

This book was so good. I just adored Q and his whole crew, males & females. The respect they all have for another was just great. I can't wait for the sequel. It was a easy read and the book flowed very nicely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Love Story! May 10, 2011
By Sheba
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really loved this book! It was a great love story. There was lots of drama, sex and suspense. I loved the camaraderie, not only among the guys but the girls as well. The way Van was always there for her man through whatever, was simply inspiring. While at times I found myself saying, "she's better than me", I still could identify with the way she was down for her man. Q just simply had it going on. In the streets he was the man, on point at all times. Off the streets he was the man with a swag to die for and his sex game was off the chain. He made sure he took good care of the women he cared about but ultimately, too many women in his life would cost him. This book was worth paying the full price and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southern greatness May 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Wow! This book had great suspense, realistic love stories, and best of all...a southern twist with areas that were close to home and actually made me feel like I knew a few of the characters. I love this and can't wait to read the sequel!

2.0 out of 5 stars I dont kno where to begin! January 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
After reading Trapstar by Blake Karrington i figured I would give Country Boy a try...OMG why did I! First of all This book was all over the place......Too many damn characters. Van and Tee both were dumb as hell...I felt like the author shoulda wrote in a part where Q had gonorrhea, herpes, HIV, or something with all them chicks he was sleeping with...I mean usually a book would have one other womean where as Q had about 4 or 5 and he never wore a condom with any of them. I did like the parts about Tim and Terri b/c they seem to have a nice little love story but the rest was just too much. Q was nothing but a man whore who seemed to be obsessive compulsive about dogs and numbers..I gave the book 2 stars b/c of Tim and Terri..

1.0 out of 5 stars -__- December 17, 2011

Please don't waste .99 on this book.. It definitely is worth the price though. I can say that. I didn't like the book. I didn't even finish it because during it, I was lost. The book was not well revised and edited. Unless you can spare .99 I don't suggest you buy this book. There are plenty others that are WAY better for .99. Just saying!
Much love,
Lady J'

2.0 out of 5 stars Had potential... February 1, 2013
By claire
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Country Boy had the potential to be a great book; however, there were a few problems.
1) Too many characters.
2) No character depth.
3) Too many insignificant details.
4) Story line was kind of boring and moved too slow.
5) Grammar wasn't that great so, sometimes I was kind of confused.

2.0 out of 5 stars SERIOUSLY?! October 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't know what ppl are reading with this story but I was so poorly written. I will say, it had potential to be great due to the story line and even Qs pessimism - but it was written all wrong. From the more than unrealistic behaviors of this ride or die Van character, who openly allows him to mess around; to the dozen characters that are introduced in a short book such as this one; and let's not get started on the writing. Why is important to mention the the dog sensed ppl having sex and left the room, much more, is the even possible?! Such a waste.

More About the Author

Blake Karrington is more than an author. He's a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It's in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they're really alive.
Most of Blake's titles are centered in the South, in urban settings, that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake's eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It's in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgment, he weaves humanizing back stories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of his work, speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right time, to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting, Blake's stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it's not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he's lived in the world's he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
