I really like this game. The dances are fun, the songs are by popular country artists, and I find myself giggling a lot as I try to get the moves down.
The pros: The dances are a great time. They're a bit more complex, which gives me more of a challenge. There is a cool effect on the dancers' outfits, where the patterns shift while they're dancing. It's hard to explain, but fun to watch. Once I get the moves down, I'm going to have a lot of fun with this game. It's lower impact and isn't too hard on my knees. I do find myself breaking a sweat when playing this game. The dances are more "authentic country" and not too geeky, so they were a lot of fun to do. The moves have a lot of attitude, and when I let my guard down and just have fun with it, I have a great time.
The cons: There are only two "line dances" - I was kind of hoping for more. The rehearsal mode is not a real help because the moves are too complicated. None of the moves are named, so it's a bit harder to figure out what move is coming up next. There are presently no new dances to purchase and download. Two player mode is a bit difficult to do, and a lot of the moves involve swinging your arms around, so I almost smacked my friend when she came over with me. We did have a lot of fun, though.
My bottom line: If you like country music and dancing, this is a fun game. The dances will give you a decent workout, and you'll have fun at the same time. Turn up the music, let down your guard, and have fun with it!
If you think this will be like Just Dance or Dance Central with country music it won't be. The Just Dance series does a lot of back to back repetitive moves that make it easy to catch on, this game does a variety of moves then repeats the sequence ( given like in a line dance). The Dance Central series does an excellent job of breaking down moves and giving you instructions, don't expect any tutorial with Country Dance. I do still like it because I like country music and dancing, but I don't play it not nearly as much as I thought I would
The peole living downstairs (30 years our juniors) heard us dancing a singing, came up to investigate and joined us for hours!
Being a little older, we are not up to the hip hop or rap songs or dances.
We also enjoy the lyrics as they are much cleaner and more enjoyable - also country mucic is great.
There's a fairly good selection of music
There's a rehearsal mode, which you can use to break the dance up in chunks, and you can replay each section as often as you like.
Besides the regular and rehearsal modes, there are also perfection and freeze modes. I haven't used them yet but they allow you to challenge yourself after you've mastered a dance.
Some people really don't like the way you imitate the dancers as if they're in a mirror, but I think that's a matter of taste. I have done many exercise videos and they all use that method.
For the most part, I didn't think the dances were too hard, but that may depend on the person.
Not all of the songs have a rehearsal mode. For those, you just have to jump in and imitate the dancers.
I don't know whether it's the configuration of my room but some of the songs were really picky...I could imitate the dancers as much as I could, and get a miss rate of 20%. Other dances were much less sensitive; I could make lots of errors and get almost no misses.
I haven't ever gone line dancing, but a lot of these dances didn't seem to be actual line dances; they just seemed to be dance routines done to country music. They were still fun, but I was expecting more line dancing.
All in all, this is a fun game and a good value for the price. If nothing else, it's a fun way to get some exercise in!

This has been a lot of fun. Graphically my kids think it looks a little old school compared to some newer games. I really enjoy the country music selection.Published 6 days ago by David Smith
Fun game, a bit more difficult vs the other dance games out there, but that just makes it a workout. Great for country music lovers.Published 7 months ago by angela
