One of Hallyday's best, February 8, 2007
This review is from: Country Folk Rock (Audio CD)
This album was released in 1972, one year after "Flagrabt Délit", his finest album. "Flagrant..." was a fine fusion of rock'n'roll with blues and gospel elements, something very close to what Joe Cocker was doing back then. For this follow-up, Hallyday added country music to the mix, and he nails it. This album is more or less divided in two parts: an acoustic one and an electric one. The acoustic half of the album starts with "Ma main au feu", an astonishingly beautiful country-folk song, that would have made Bob Dylan proud. Another great song here is "Hello US USA", a fast paced country song about the multiple faces of a country that Hallyday carries in his heart. The electric part continues pretty much where "Flagrant Délit" had stopped. My favourite tracks here are "Toi, tu voles l'amour", a groovy rocker with a killer guitar riff and powerful vocals from Johnny, and "Tomber c'est facile", a great blues number. Lyrics wise, the most impressive track in this album is "Sauvez-moi", a desperate cry for help from a priosioner about to be executed. Overall, this is another extraordinary album from Mr. Hallyday.

What a wonderful artist!, July 12, 2010
This review is from: Country Folk Rock (Audio CD)
I had the pleasure of working with him. He is so committed to doing
his best and this album had many wonderful songs on it. It's
easy to give it 5 stars. Was particularly impressed with SAUVEZ
MOI. Hallyday is like non other. A treasure. And...a great actor.
Am assuming that he has re-issued this great album on CD.
