More About the Author

I began my pattern design company, Snuggles Quilts, in May of 2003. I have since successfully marketed my patterns to shops around the country from my home based business in Osage, Iowa. I have been quilting for over 20 years and have been designing quilt patterns about that long. I love to design seasonal and holiday patterns as well as scrappy quilt patterns. The patterns range from pillows and table runners to wall hangings and lap quilts. I have taught many classes in quilt shops and at guilds around Iowa. Most of my classes are based on one of my favorite techniques, needle-turn hand applique. My first book, "Country-Fresh Quilts", was published by Martingale & Company in August of 2008. My new book, Scrap Quilts Go Country, just came out February 8, 2011. Recently, I have had quilt patterns published in Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting, McCall's Quick Quilts, Quilter's World and The American Patchwork and Quilting calendar for 2006,2009 and 2011. I've also had a pattern published in the new online magazine, The Quilt Pattern Magazine.

I am married to a great guy, Craig, and have two active teenagers, Alyssa 19 and Mitchell 17. Outside of quilting, the kids keep me busy running to every sporting event under the sun. We also have a cat, Snuggles, the company namesake, who believes she owns every quilt sample I make.

Traditional blocks with appliqué added to it make up this book. There are only five different blocks but there are 17 projects.

The book begins with basic quilting instructions that include cutting, piecing and finishing techniques. Each project has a photo of the item, then general instructions follow. The material and cutting lists next and of course the assembly and finishing instructions wind up the pattern. Templates for the appliqué are included at full size.

There are only five basic patterns in this book and it is priced at $24.95. Most quilters can "figure out" how to create different projects (such as quilts or pillows or wall hangings) so providing the "how-to" again and again but only with a different block is repetitious.

I love this book. It is full of wonderful quilts and table toppers. I like machine applique, so this book is perfect as far as designs that are suitable for applique.

This book is exactly as it states "Country Fresh". The instructions and techniques are easy to follow and well written. What a beautiful blend of piecing and applique. I also love the choice of fabric patterns and color in the beautiful photographed completed projects in this book. There is also a great selection of multiple projects in this book.
Can't wait for the next one to be out in 2011!!
