I would recommend following the instructions and not leaving it out over the winter months, too. It was mild most of the winter, and everything was fine, but it did get very cold in February, and I've just finished patching up 5 cracks that developed from the icy conditions. Needless to say, I won't leave it out in the elements next winter. The solar powered fountain portion is fun, but only works in direct sunlight, so pick a sunny spot for this birdbath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solar birdbath, August 2, 2006

I am very pleased with my solar birdbath. I wanted a small fountain and did not know they even came solar powered until I saw it on line. It only runs when the sun is directly on it but I really like it. Beats plugging it in

This fountain has met all me expectations and more. It holds alot of water, so it only needs filling every couple days. It has a new electronic piece that helps it run on partly cloudy days. It assembles very quickly. I had it up and working in less than 10 minutes.

I put it together in just a few minutes and it began to work instantly! It works very well in the full sun to partially full sun. It has enough of a water sound that you can enjoy it if you sit nearby. We placed ours at the edge of our patio and the birds love it! It looks great as a regular bird bath when the sun is not out. I was very pleased with the price as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition for the yard!, May 16, 2007

I've had this birdbath/fountain in my yard for the past two months now, and I've been extremely happy with it. It works flawlessly, and is beautiful as well. I especially love the turtles. And having a fountain that runs on solar power (and therefore needs no power wired up to it) is particularly pleasing.

When the sun is out the fountain runs and sounds like a little brook. There is a slight underlying hum of the motor working when you are up close, but the birds are beginning to get used to it. Since it's a solar fountain it will not work unless the sun is shining directly on it, which is most of the day for me. I find it's a nice accent without having to rewire the whole yard to incorporate a fountain.

The only thing I would change about it is that I would prefer it to have a place to fill it with sand (and maybe there is but I missed it when putting it together) to make the unit heavier, but it's not as though it blows over anyway. I have already recommended this to my friends, and would buy it again myself.

The seller was prompt also. I had this fountain days before I expected it, and they were a LOT less expensive than other sites that carried the same fountain!

My husband and I finally agreed on a bird bath when I found a solar powered model. He didn't want a plug in and I wanted a fountain. This is the best of both worlds. We live in a northern state, and fully realize that direct sunlight is not always possible. We have been very pleased and surprised at how well this product works and how easy it was to put together. We love it!

The Country Gardens Bird Bath arrived less than a week after it was ordered. Instructions were very clear and informative. The bird bath was easy to install, and remains fairly east to maintain. Just be sure to put in a very sunny location.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soothing sounds, September 5, 2007
This review is from: Country Gardens Solar Birdbath Fountain - 29" H (Kitchen)
I have to check on the water every day or every other day. Remove the solar panel/water pump to dump the dirty water (that I didn't know was dirty because all the junk was hiding in the chamber under the panel). I spray it out with the strong stream on my hose, stand it back up and adjust it so it's level and fill it up. Birds love it and I love seeing all the birds coming to my yard. A tiny haven in a big city that seemingly has pigeons, squirrels and crows.

The water coming out of the fountain isn't pushed hard so it's a very soothing sound. The panel doesn't store energy so it doesn't run at night and if the sun goes behind a cloud it doesn't run. It comes with a panel that is the same material as the bath so you don't have to use the fountain. I am glad it has this extra panel because I didn't know what I was going to do in the winter time. I don't have to take it inside, I can buy something to keep the water warm or I don't have to put water in it at all, but I can cover the deep part (where the pump goes if the pump and panel are in use) so the bottom of the bath will look seamless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, November 11, 2006
This review is from: Country Gardens Solar Birdbath Fountain - 29" H (Kitchen)
I would of rated this 5 stars if it had a motor to back it up to keep it running in bad weather but it does not. In bad weather or shaded weather it will not run, hence it is solar as stated. I found it easy to set up and the birds love it. In sunny weather it has worked wonderfully. It is truly beautiful and a wonderful addition to my yard. My family has enjoyed the wonderful show of birds acting like little motor boats in this bird bath.
