This was a quick easy book to read.

From the tragic on page one to the end I was captivated by this book, asking questions, wanting answers and pulling for things to turn out.

For once, it was difficult for me to choose the character I liked the most, as they were all very well written and individual.

I admit that being anything BUT a country girl; this book took a little warming up to. However, once I picked it up, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! The country was merely the stage for this wildly entertaining look into the lives of three sisters whose love, strength and courage help them to conquer the demons of their past, stir up a lifetime of trouble, and blaze a path straight to their future. It was an unexpectedly emotional journey that I hope goes on for generations to come! YEEEHAAW, what a ride!

I can definitely say that I had an impartial view when going into this book, as I am anything but a country girl. I wasn't sure how much I would like this, as country is not really my thing. I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this sweet and interesting story. You can't help but care about the characters in this book as they pull at your heartstrings early one. For once, it was difficult for me to choose the character I liked the most, as they were all very well written and individual.

What I found made this book so charming, was the family element. Through tragedy and learning, through distance and ups and downs, the characters in this book remind the reader of the value of unconditional love. I certainly recommend this book to anyone looking for a light, yet substantial read.

Some nice plot twists. Keeps you wondering how things will turn out. Strong women characters who might be a bit over the top, but turns out they have every right to be.

Story Line: At an early age and a life changing event puts three sisters alone together with a grandfather they didn't really know well. Growing up they continued to stay close until Prince charming came to save one from the hardship of the country life. Distance seems to fall between the two girls staying together and the one far away. However, when prince charming starts to show his true colors the sisters are quick to return to each other's side. After another life changing event it seems the sisters have to lean on each other again to come out of the crazy adventure that lay before them.
Characters: Eli, Emma, Evey, Harry, Brady, Shawn, Preston
My Favorite Character: Eli Wilson with her strong will and attitude to match. She doesn't need a man and she doesn't need the town's gossip about her either. Always ready to stand up for herself and isn't afraid of the outcome.
My Favorite Part: It is really hard to pick just one. I guess one of them I'll tell you about is the bar fight. Eli gets her mouth going and starts in on one of the local gossip kings. Before long the guy is insulting Eli and Emma comes to stand up for her sister as well. It just shows how much of a pack these sisters have. Any moment they need to be there and they are. Just like when Evey calls and Emma and Eli don't miss a beat to go to her even with the long drive. It shows that even after time and distance that you can't stop the power of family and love. It also shows that siblings are always there when you need them.

Full Concept: Maybe I am a bit bias being a country girl myself but that put aside this book still is a great read. The country life is full of blood, sweat, tears, hard work and quick on your feet problem solving and this book has it all.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

This was a great story about three sisters whose love for each other was stronger than anything. The story follows these sisters through some very tough times, and we see how their love overcomes it all.

I really wanted to like this book but it fell far short of literature for me. It lacked character development and the conclusion left me feeling like this was a book that was already planning a sequel of sorts that would be more of the same. For me, strength in womanhood is NOT about using your fists.

Reading the preface, I was looking forward to reading this book...and it was definitely a page turner! I enjoyed feeling like you could really know the characters and the unexpected twists throughout. In fact, I was left wanting to continue to read about the girls and what their next adventure would be.

The premise was good, the execution was difficult to get through. It started well, but then the 3 girls grew up and it all went downhill fast.

25 years after the tragic fire these three girls are 32, 29, and 25/26 years of age. They act and talk like they are about 13. The only thing Eli was missing was a plug of chew in her mouth. I get they grew up with grandpa on the ranch and are tough as nails country girls, but did they have to be such caricatures? I have feeling the whole plot was just an attempt to write a novel based on the Dixie Chicks old hit, "Goodbye Earl." At least the song had a catchy chorus.

The author chose to have Emma tell this story from the first person PoV, but you can't have it both ways. Emma tells what is happening in places she is not at and gives the thoughts of other characters. This just did not work for me---if Emma is telling the story she cannot just know the thoughts and actions of everyone else. The character of Evey was paper thin and useful only as a plot device.

All in all this was pretty cliche, and the dialogue and actions never felt very real. In a 3 minute country song that might work, in a novel not so much.

Also, if editing issues bother you then you really need to give this a skip. Too many commas in the wrong places, too few in the correct places, an overuse of words that just don't work (seriously, when you are angry you seldom "quip" and yet Eli did it so often my eyes were rolling)--it seemed as though a professional editor never went near this book.
