5.0 out of 5 stars By The 3rd Listen I Was Hooked
Of course, my children were attached to this outstanding album before I even put it on! I always trust everything that Raffi puts out and only hesitate on how much I am going to spend. 1.0 out of 5 stars lousy
This album is poor - it just shows that raffi is far better singing his songs than anyone else. Most of the other artists' efforts are really poor - and my kids agree.

Of course, my children were attached to this outstanding album before I even put it on! I always trust everything that Raffi puts out and only hesitate on how much I am going to spend. But, I must admit that I am not a big country music fan and we all know that parents must like an album enough to endure listening to it more times than we ever listened to Pearl Jam. Track 1, Asleep At The Wheel's version of "The Bowling Song", is absolutely hilarious and enough reason to buy this CD. Raffi sings his new song "Blue White Planet" with the beautiful simplicity of his older songs (and my girls were delighted to hear his familiar voice). The rest of the artists really did a great job on these Raffi favorites and only one or two have just a tad more twang than I'm ready for, but I can definitely look past that when I see my kids dancing around to that new, "fun" sound. I am sure that adults will love hearing this album at least 52 times and that our children will have no problem pushing the "play" button until it falls off with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!!, December 28, 2001

I am neither a big fan of Raffi, nor a real country music fan, but this CD is wonderful! I have always thought that Raffi's performing style was somewhat bland, but these artists give real character to his well-written songs. My kids have never wanted to dance so much. Asleep at the Wheel's version of "The Bowling Song" is priceless, and "Blessed Be" by Alison Krauss could bring a tear to any mother's eye, but our favorite is "Baby Beluga." I have to admit, I listen to this CD even when my kids aren't around.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what you called country music? Its cool., November 29, 2001

We listen Classical, Jazz, Opera, Musical, and Alternative but stay away from the Country. And came along this album and it opens our eyes to see the artistry and talented demonstrated by the country artists here.
Given her "Shake My Sillies Out" musical arrangement and sinning, one will hope that Miss Lari White sings more children songs. We shake, clap, jump and dance along the song, my little toddler girl just laughs and laughs all the way. Miss Lari White also makes more than one climax within a short length of children song - very impressive composing.
Miss Rhonda Vincent probably can do more than just country. Her "Babanafone" is not only country, it is also kind of New Orleans Jazz, somewhat Musical. Listen how she changes the keys and tempo in the middle. And the instrumentals dialog in the middle is also very nice. Country music composing can go really complicated...
Mr. Blake Chancey's production on "Baby Beluga" is simply a free flow.
Mr. Keith Urban must be a good music educator. We try to participate his song - it takes more than 2 to make the band.
Miss Elizabeth Cook's sinning is simply so pretty.
For (this price) to have all these artistry in one -- is an ultimate investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superbly produced, unique tribute album, November 7, 2001
This review is from: Country Goes Raffi (Audio CD)
Raffi is one of the most popular and beloved children's entertainers in the music field today. Country Goes Raffi is a superbly produced, unique tribute album showcasing this gifted performer's superb compositions as performed by a wide range of country music singers. The selections feature Down by the Bay (Eric Heatherly); Baby Beluga (Billy Gilman); Blessed Be (Alison Krause); Blue White Planet (Raffi); Apples and Bananas (Keith Urban); Naturally (Marty Stuart); All I Really Need (The Wilkinsons); Rise and Shine (Lee Roy Parnell); Bananaphone (Rhonda Vincent); Shake My Sillies Out (Lari White); Thanks A Lot (Paul Malo); This Little Light of Mine (Elizabeth Cook); One Light One Sun (Kathy Mattea; and The Bowling Song (Asleep At The Wheel). Country Goes Raffi is a "must" for the legions of Raffi fans (and their parents!).

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent CD, March 22, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Country Goes Raffi (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this CD I liked all of the songs. But my favorites are "This Little Light of Mine" sung by Elizabeth Cook, "The Bowling Song," sung by Asleep at the Wheel, and ``Down by the Bay," sung by Eric Heatherly. My whole family loves this CD. I like "This Little Light of Mine" because I like the way Darrell Scott plays the guitar, banjo, and the mandolin. All of the songs are written by Raffi or they are traditional arranged by Raffi but sung by famous country musicians. "All I Really Need" is good for everybody. Raffi has good people singing he is cute, but he is old .

A must have for country music loving parents. A well done tribute album by many of country's big names. I love all the songs, but would say my favorites are Lari White's Shake my Sillies Out and the Wilkinsons' All I Really Need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too Grown Up for Raffi-NOT, August 18, 2005
This review is from: Country Goes Raffi (Audio CD)
Actually, I first heard "Apples and Bananas" before I ever heard this whole CD. I am familiar with Raffi but at - 54 - I was grown up by time he became popular. But I am also a fan of Rhonda Vincent. This is a GREAT CD, I recommend it to anyone who likes 'fun' music - grown up or not so much.

Having kids lets you discover so many good things. This CD is one of those things. Those five stars are for Allison Krauss's singing of "Blessed Be" so much nicer than Raffi's own on Let's Play. And Asleep at the Wheel's "Bowling Song". I can skip "Baby Beluga" and a couple of others, but those two and Raffi's "Blue White Planet" make it for me. I'm hoping for a sequel; maybe Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle could be there?

This CD is wonderful to have in the car. Keeps my three children singing and laughing. Had to buy a copy after borrowing one from the library. My son wanted to know "why we didn't have a copy of it." It's great!!!!

This CD is a great addition to any collection of children's music. I was intrigued by the title because I like country music and we have a sizeable collection of Raffi music. It is even better than I anticipated. As much as his songs are enjoyable, listening to Raffi's syrupy voice can get to be too much. This CD is the best of all possible worlds: Raffi songs sung by other musicians. Plus, there were wonderful selections I had not previously heard (five stars for the first number by Asleep at the Wheel).
