Ashley has created a literary metaphor for universal consciousness in this book which interleaves the stories of 100 characters; somehow she manages to get us to enjoy each individual -- and at the end of the book we know we are all one.
From the vast orange dust of the American West to the lush green terror of Northern Ireland, Ashley knows more ways to be human than will ever occur to the book's central characters: a group of New Yorkers who are trying to answer the slippery questions of thei lives.
I love this book: it's both a story and a truth.
