Makes rolling dough really easy,

I'm learning to make decorated sugar cookies on a stick, so the width of the dough is important in order to support the cookie's weight on the stick. Using these strips makes it a no-brainer. I put the dough between 2 pieces of parchment paper and roll over the top, letting the rolling pin rest on one strip on each side of the dough. Comes out perfect every time!

These are pretty simple, and pretty smart. Just 3 sets of wooden strips in different heights. I use the thickest one (1/4") for my sugar cookies and they come out perfect. It took a little getting used to - they can move around on the counter a little bit at first. I recommend thinking of them as tracks for your rolling pin instead of guides, this helped me a lot to basically roll the pin along the tracks.
The main reason this is not a 5 star product is that the thickness of the strip is not printed on it anywhere. Since I don't use them frequently (I make rolled pies and cookies maybe 3x per year) I have a hard time remembering their thickness and have to look it up on this page every time I need to know how thick they are. I tried to write on it with a marker but the finish made it not stick too well and the marker smudged. It's not a big deal, but it is kind of annoying. The second reason it's not 5 stars is that they slide a bit and sometimes you wind up accidentally flattening your dough too much. I would recommend for any cookie or pie baker who needs to make things a uniform thickness.

I've been looking for something to help with rolling uniform thickness, I even tried to make a couple contraptions (to no avail). I was looking into the hoops for a specialty rolling pin, but I love mine too much. My rolling pin was made on a lathe, is my mother's, is gorgeous and will pretty much never need replacing for generations-soooo, why replace it with a rolling pin I don't even want? I found these and was elated! They're longer than I expected for some reason (the length measurements didn't click in my head at all), which I was happy about; gives you plenty of room. The only thing I might consider doing is finding some contact paper, felt or maybe just a glued ribbon or something to make them not slip. I haven't found anything that doesn't alter the height of the strips too much, but it's a small improvement the manufacturer could make. I'll think of something eventually. A good investment if you make cookies/pie crusts. It takes some practice, but would buy these again.
Seller was stupidly fast. I put in the order, and they were on my doorstep the next morning. How often does that happen with standard shipping, I mean honestly? Probably location, but I was pleasantly surprised.
